    Herro

Thanks. I was trying to foreshorten his leg, but after trying out the pose it would be really strenuous and awkward.

I haven't worked on it much, but I think this is better:

I worked more on the mushroom concepts:

I'm going to add a spike on top of this one.

    Fox/wolf/etc. concepts:

Forgot to put the whiskers on this one.

Really great color palette on the figure painting! Looking forward to seeing it finished. Nice mushrooms too and the fox with the peacock tail looks adorable. Keep them coming!

hey man, i like what you do ! Well, from the technical side, i think you must really more define your values ! You're doin well with colors, but we can't really tell where the light comes from, and we can see the different parts of the bodies because of colors, but the values don't describe the volumes ! But you're quite good at rendering fur ! on the design part, you should try to more work with sikhouettes ! the 3rd anima from the last post got a really interesting silhouette, but for the others , silhouette is really wide, so it's be cool to also work on the height, well, hope you get what i mean, anyway, good work, keep updating, and i'm following you man !

So...this semester in Venice is awesome! BUT i left my wacom pen in the states, and it's taking a longass time to ship it here.

Not much of an update, but I helped create the visuals for an iphone/ipodtouch game: Bubbles Ahoy! Check it out! We're getting an update out soon to correct problems and add new content like power ups etc.

Drawing with a mouse is so uncomfortable and time consuming...

hey Yih, really like the tonal structure and edges in that Hero piece form a while back. Your stuff is looking great, the heads have a nice breadth without sacrificing structure.

A banner for my blog, Noosed Pillow, which has nothing on it right now. I'm still figuring out how to get around blogspot.

    Some sketches:

My painting studio with some WIP. I'm exploring suicide, working with different settings with a hanging noose.

EDIT: Errr not actually going to commit suicide haha. I'm actually creating a book for the open call exhibition "A Book About Death" in Italy, and decided to expand on the book via a larger scale.

And a lithograph of a sketch from the previous post. I made more prints with different colors; I'll upload them later.

Going to work hard this summer.

I haven't taken pics of everything, but here's some stuff for now.

My sketchbook (and my backpack, wallet, camera charger) was stolen in Barcelona. But luckily I made some lithographs from the sketches...They're all around 13x17 cm.

Sophisticated Lady. I originally sketched this in a jazz bar.

Not Shylock. This was for my final for the class.

Palazzo Corner Spinelli. Originally sketched from a pic on google.

A random doodle thing. I didn't have much time to do digital during the semester...

I'm changing towards a more cartoony style, at least for the faces and overall amount of detail, to work faster. Something i pulled out in 2 days. There are a lot of problems, but I'm glad I can do something quickly.

    Some studies from characterdesigns.

I'll have some more stuff up soon.

The massive amount of head studies on pg 5 really helped me to see how to more effectively practice the head. I also dig your style in general. More please!

I also took pictures of my paintings.
    This is the statement:
"Death is not living: of growing, thriving, experiencing, and fulfilling. Nothing can be done, nothing can be achieved in death; everything is stagnant. In this sense, one can be dead even while his heart his still pounding—a prisoner of his own ivory tower. In this series, I juxtapose the symbolic hanging man against personally meaningful environments to suggest four reasons for this figurative deadness, this self-imposed false fantasy: acknowledgement, revenge, bravery, and escapism.

Intending this group to be read as a narrative, I use mixed media to provide a cohesion between each painting. Incorporating gauche, acrylic, glitter, and pastel on paper, in addition to repeated themes within each painting, I am interested in creating immersive spaces that suggest both real and imagined elements, and perspectives that are both factual and distorted."

They were originally installed in a chapel formation, with the "Drifting" as the altarpiece and the rest as side-altars. Each piece is 65 x 150cm.

Here are some power-hour sketches I'm doing with a friend. I finished up the troll one. There are some funky proportion errors--I'll fix them up later.

Dudddeee I haven't seen your thread since like...2 years ago I think? I had a different username then, but I was that random person in graphic design at BU who messaged you about something or other on here. Your stuff has really improved a ton, and I'm really jealous about the study abroad - I never did it, but I saw the work that came out of it, all of it was amazing. I miss BU!

The second 10-min study has amazing colors and depth for something so quick! Watch out for drawing roughly the same face type for every character. The structures look spot on but the mouth and nose are always the same and they have the same stoic expression most of the time. I recommend drawing different kinds of heads from reference to steer out of your comfort zone.

Some of the figures from head have weird foreshortening issues or look out of balance. On the other hand, I love this page of gestures, the poses have nice rhythm, the figures look solid and effortlessly drawn. This makes me wonder do you design your poses as small thumbnails before drawing them in the final size?

I'm still jealous of your confident brushstrokes and the clouds on "Escapism" look gorgeous! Keep them coming!

Nice Yih, your last post is all grayscale! I really like the index card paintings (esp the one of that cool asian kid in it).

You seem to have the beginning stages of digital painting down really well above. I think you should go back and work on the rendering/details or final stages (like what you did with the troll). The graphic design posters are cool but a bit vague.

    Keep it up!
