Very nice indeed, but why didnt post this in you previous sketchbook? You have found some intresting shapes in ship designs. Compositionally I think it needs something in lower left corner: landscape, buildings, planet surface etc. Something to indicate location and scale.
ya i was thinking about some kind of floating city, or a giant airship, but about the sketchbook i couldnt find it, how do i find it.

its a good scene. the clouds and background are real nice. I think the ships have a nice design, but they seem a bit too fuzzy. Maybe try to sharpen them. Try not to use a soft brush, i guess.
Good job though, keep it up.
Compositionally: My eye tends to move from the left ship to the right ship. I think this is due to the fuel trail of the left ship is acting like an arrow, leading my eye the second ship. Also, my eye tends to be drawn to the circular shape at the center of each ship (me thinks its a little busy) So, if you wanted to draw attention to your cloud detail with that light spot in the left part of the composition, I'd consider emphasizing it more through more contrast or more saturation. Although, personally, I like the slightly desaturated look of this particular piece. EDIT: Also, I just the men at the front of the ship, you might want to consider adding some detail/contrast to them, since they add a sense of scale and a real interest to an otherwise fairly abstract looking piece.
Now, how did you achieve your technical skills with a Wacom? I'm using a tablet and am having serious difficulty just making a simple drawing. How long did it take you to adjust?
By the way, I'd really appreciate it if you dropped by my sketchbook.

THanks a lot for the comments, im getting a lot of help from different forums, this is great. As far as my wacom, it took me about a week to get used to it, i learned that i had to somewhat alter my drawing technique, but thats fine becuase it doesn't affect me when i'm drawing on paper.

Another digital painting - 6/7 hours.
Im learning so much just through experimentation, this is so fun.

looks like you know what you're doing.
really i think the biggest problem you're going to run into right now is purely technique and composition details. Also probably general knowledge of things (reference etc). So my best advice would simply be to practice your ass off and draw everything even if it's not ships and cars. You can learn a lot from figure drawing and environment studies, lighting, form, organic shapes, muscle connections, joints, bone structures, etc. And you can always apply that knowledge to everything else.
Draw, Draw, draw and when you think you're done draw some more.
18? I'm lost...
post number #9 is sexymore!

Truly marvelous, marvelous work!
hi thx for the comments.
Gus - you should be an art teacher. You know what people need to do to get better. Ive taken many figure drawing classes; its probably one of my favorite things to do. Its wierd, but when im in boring psychology or philosophy class i draw people in the class, i love it, i try and capture their personality and uniqueness in my little sketches on the side of my notes. I should post some of my notebook pages, it might as well be a sketchbook. Anyways, ya lighting and composition i definitely need to work on, there some of the most important parts of a successfull image that i sadly lack skill in. Believe me, im workin on it, goin for a full scholarship at artcenter, working on 3 projects at a time, 7-12 pages for each project a week, while frequently doodling in my sketchbook and on my wacom.
ok sry i write to much sometimes, but anyways thx for comments, i need more!!
Thx for the advice again gus, ima actually work on environment studies, thats a really good idea, thx.

With your digital painting I think what is missing is a type of texture! You have airbrushy feels and hard edge tablet pressure textures. You're in painter? Try the charcoal, contes, and stuff like that in those clouds a little... break up the interest in that way.
Other than that beautiful colors and as Gus says, keep drawing a lot!
bored, crap:

Good stuff DSG. I don't understand how you do that robot stuff on paper.. Markers are so expensive.. I haven't tried yet haha.
Keep sharing please. Good work in here!
thx dile, 7 bucks a piece... ya pretty expensive, but it's all i spend my money on, lol. Most kids would spend (aka. waste) their money on fancy sidekicks, ps3, xbox, wii, video games or DRUGS. Not me... i buy markers, haha. copics to be exact, i love them so much.![]()
