ArghosRo, thanks. Actually I don't know much about color theory. I just keep changing colors until they look decent enough for me. I think the problem you have is not the color pallete, but values. If values are good then you can put almost any color on top and it will still look alright. Always check if your painting looks good in monochrome, if it doesn't then it probably won't look good in color too.

be careful with the environment colors you choose to put your characters in. i notice some of your skin tones look really dead in some of the sketches. and i think it has to do with the saturation/hues of your background. That juxtaposition is powerful and if done wrong can really drain the life out of an otherwise beautiful piece.

Keep doing those gestures! The poses in those are great but the ones from imagination look a little stiff. The colors in your studies are great but in your other paintings the saturation levels are a bit all over the place and it makes the colors look muddy. Also, avoid using too much black. Keep in mind that every illuminated object is a light source in itself. Even the shadows are illuminated by their environment and need to be less harsh in order to look more natural.

In your concept-art, try to organize or simplify your values more, don't spread them out too much, it can make it look "patchy". I think it's most evident in your lighter paintings. Your dark ones on last page are really good on the front i'm talking about ANyways keep up with those studies! You've come very far in this book
