Kriss_Kringle, thanks. I'll do 3 more Egyptian characters and then I'll come back to this one. Will try to make hands look better and fix some other stuff. Also, the cape is not symmetrical because I tried to add some wind blowing from the left of the picture, but it probably doesn't look realistic enough, I need to study cloth some more Good luck with your studies too!

    llex paul, thanks

and an illustration. I had (and still have) many problems with composition and pose. Spent on it more time than it probably looks, but I quite enjoy painting it. Still a wip, obviously

Hey Tadas, bravo on the enviro's, http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/7798/327ko.jpg and some more confident colors here too, going into matte painting?
Good sense of depth, though I think u should need to consider things u use in the landscapes for the figures aswell, because they seem quite plain. I'm not talking about likeness and the structure, just the way that you seem to forget such things being used in landscapes in them, however I think it's the "being used to" puts pikes into your wheels

I guess I won't talk much, just show you an example of a painting I saw in Germany recently, http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SqhhJb_P3K...the+artist.jpg

Think of the color difference in the toes and feet, usage of shadows and lightning to enstrenghten the study, which, without it would be just another boring study that does not appeal and gives poor emotion on the viewer. It's quite vibrant, but sometimes when you use same or very close color on the whole body without paying attention to it's differences makes the figure to look dead. Well, not the dead as DEAD, but bit plastic or rubbery. Even without the textures, graphic color gives a high boost on giving life to your pictures. For example that shiny bull, check out how you use contrast on different structures - body, mask, pole. Yes it is in different pressure levels, but the whole idea of aplying it on totaly different textures is quite simmilar, doesn't give you the strong feel of the differences I'm not sure if i have told u this before or not, but these things just came upto my mind after seeing your last works

after checking your sb, I guess that i'll need to go and do some figures or portraitures myself, miss that a lil bit

Highfive for not standing in one place, keep it up

Justas, thanks a lot some good advice here. Will keep that in mind. And I really like how the painting in the link which you posted looks like.

Trying to improve at anatomy. Sorry for the terrible quality. didn't realize the photos look so bad until I saw them on my monitor. But I'm too lazy to retake them though :/

Hi, the proportions on your figure studies are very natural looking and that last armor sketch is pretty bad ass. On the last enviro with the brown cabin in the greenery I think the dark lines in the roof are a little too dark and stand out a bit too much, but I like how you handled the foliage. Great sketchbook!
