Almost a year ago (it will be a year in a next few days) I set myself a goal to get my work to a professional level in a year. By professional I mean, to get my art to a level where it's good enough to get enough work and live solely off art. And I failed quite miserably. Even though it was my most productive year of my life so far and I did get some freelance work, I'm definitely not where I expected to be at this time.
So I decided to give myself three more months (until the end of January) to do that. I didn't manage to do it in a year so I'll do it in three months, even if it means almost no social life, and almost no time off.
I'll hopefully post a lot more stuff from now on (if anyone cares)
here's a sargent study to begin with

hey, nice studies lately. Also a ton of them what surely is good. I wonder why you didn't use what you had learned on this image in this piece from imagination? Thinking about cold/warm skin tones...

Wow amazing stuff - good luck on going pro!!
Jr. Molcak, thanksI tried to make the colors a bit richer than they really are underwater, and didn't try to make them too realistic. But you are probably right, I probably should have made them as in those studies instead
Kerro Perro, thanks!
So today I spent pretty much all day working on this character. It took me way more time than I expected and it's still far from finished. I got really helpful critique on it today and I'll make quite a few changes probably tomorrow

You know threads like these is what always push me to continue sketching! Keep up the good work. I am sure that you will attain the goal that you wanted to accomplish![]()
Nice SB man! I really like the two headed/four armed monster in #674, it looks pretty bad ass. Great style.
Fisharto, thanks! It's motivating to hear that this thread makes you want to draw
Josh, thanks. Actually I quite like that sketch too
I've been working all day today, but there's not that much to show. I also did some freelance work today, but it's not worth showing (and I don't even know if I can show it) because it's really boring stuff

great stuff man, good luck with finding work, as long as you keep moving forward, you'll get there eventually
Some seriously nice work going on here. your studies are beautiful.
And I'll admit i was lured in by that hypnotist sketchbook GIF

I really like your studies, they show you have a good eye for observation. Now if you don't mind,I would like to add something about that pharaoh,if it's indeed a pharaoh.
I've had problems doing dynamic poses from my head ever since I can remember and I can tell a stiff figure when I see one.The way he's holding his hands doesn't feel very natural so you might want to take another look at that.
Then there's that cape(is it a cape?),which feels a bit off for some reason I can't explain.I think it doesn't go the same way his body is angled, especially on the left side(I'm referring to the piece that goes on his shoulders).
Also, the nasal bridge is probably too big so you might want to make it a bit more narrow.
I hate adding so many negative critiques on one piece but those were the things that caught my attention and I felt were off.If you consider that some of them are unjustified, then I apologize in advance.
I'm kind of in the same situation as you are but I'll get some art books in the following days and I'll start studying hard for the next couple of months until I can actually produce something of a decent level both traditionally and digitally.
I hope you meet your goal in these 3 months you set for yourself and get more work.Good luck!
im impressed bu your color use and painting techniques! i like a lot the image from post nr #672, its very nice for me!
