I had a sketchbook that I started a while ago, but due to not having access to a scanner and getting too wrapped up in school work it kinda died off. So here we are, round 2. And I thought I would start things off right with a huge dump. Enjoy and please comment, I value your opinion.

First few sketchbook pages are all graphite.

*I'm going to start adding images using photobucket in hopes that this will load faster. I've re-added most of the images from this first post, but I couldn't find some of them so they are gone for the time being.

Cool. Crazy imagination. I do think some anatomy/life studies would help your figure drawing skills.

To insert text inbetween images, use the "insert image" button (yellow button with what looks like mountains) and post one image at a time (using a URL address from an image hosting site like photobucket), then type your comments about each before posting the next image, rather than posting them all at one as thumbnail attachements. Hope that helps.

Piranha Clan- Hey thanks. I do anatomy studies and such, I just haven't posted any here. But there is always room for improvement as far as figure drawing goes . Thanks for your comments.

Cookiedemon- Thanks for your comments. Poses and gestures are an ongoing struggle for me, but I will focus on trying to get some more interesting ones in the future.

I did some digital coloring on these two guys for a Photoshop class. I'm still getting used to working digitally, making brushes and such is growing on me...

More stuff.... These two images were done for a class; the assignment was to develop a set of characters based on a given theme. I decided to do a South American headhunter tribe, and these are the final layouts for the project. As always, thanks for taking the time to look at my stuff.

I didn't have access to a scanner today, but I found some older stuff floating around on my hard drive: some vehicle sketches, an early attempt at photoshop and some figure drawing from a couple months ago. Enjoy.

You have a good sense of the figure , even gesture if i might say ... but you need to draw diversity , most of your figures have the same muscle volume, the standard volume. Try drawing some skinny people , some fat people , old people , children you will see what i mean.

flamable- Hey, thanks for your comments. I think I tend to just fall back on what I know, but as you suggested I would like to push the individuality of the people I draw just a bit further.

hi man! nice sketchbook! some nice and clean rendering going on here!

one thing I noticed about your figures is that a lot of them seem very off balanced, try to keep in mind that usually when viewing a person standing, you can draw a line down the center of the head, and it will match up to the ankle of the foot that is taking most of the weight (i.e, the straight leg, the other leg is usually bent). If the person is standing with equal weight on both feet, then the center line of the head falls in the middle of both the feet!

be wary of comfort zones as well! you are drawing alot of torson in third quarter view, and they all look very similar! look up some random photos for ideas for poses before starting a sketch, refer back to the reference whenever you get stuck!

I've just finished up with my last semester at school and have also been busy with a new freelance job, but I've got some new things to share finally. A couple pencil drawings and two digital paintings...

I very much like the last mech. The overall shown work is pretty good too. Very thight lines. Would be nice to see some more loose ones too. The mech is good but the way the feet are positiones... dunno ... looks a bit weird.

Another small update, just a sketchbook page. I've got a lot of new ish to share just need to get some decent scans of it.

I really want to get better at drawing faces so I have started collecting a large referene file and have done some sketches using the pics as guides. I also have a couple long poses from life drawing to share too.





Not too thrilled about how this one turned out, after I was pretty much done with the drawing I realized that I had made her head too small....

I have a second update for today, I had to run before I could finish the last one. Anyway, I have some more sketches from some figure drawing sessions I have been going to. I've been trying to work on my gestures more as I know that's a weak point for me. I have a couple longer poses in there too, as well as some random sketch pages and studies, and a couple illustrations too. The astronaut illustration is an old image which I re-worked because I was not satisfied with it. I'd love some feedback, thanks for looking.
