hi whats the story about firstly. the images are good for getti g a general
idea of the charcters but they need a little work.
A3PORTE, I guess I should have gone into a little more detail about the story, so I'll lay it out in the most general of terms:
The angel you see above in named Reya, she did something to piss of God and got booted out of heaven ending up in Detroit, MI of all places. After recovering from her wounds, Reya finds herself trapped in human form with no memory of anything that had happened. Eventually she befriends a local stripper (this sounds stupid, but it makes sense in the script), and they become friends. Things seem to be going good for Reya until her angelic past attracts some unwanted attention.
If you, or anyone else is interested in the story send me a personal message and I will email you a copy of the story.
Ace. I really like both of them. The first one needs the line quality of the second. Probably fuck the colours off too. Just do the lines. Your style's really quirky and interesting.
James
Didn't like the color?
Didn't like the colors? I thought they were pretty good, but I guess everyone has there own opinion. Anyways, this is the picture of Reya loosing her wings.
These are a few pictures of the main villian in the story, his name is Hamon (a demon). These are pretty quick pictures, and I have not yet been able to decide whether or not I should keep the horns on him or not.
Here are a few quick pics of the two main characters in clothing
I started drawing this a couple days ago, normally I can churn out a drawing in an hour or so, but it took me such a long time just to get the basic shape of the body right, I figured that I should just try and finish it. This depicts the moment right after Reya gets her wings torn off, and right before she is cast down to earth. I tried a different style with this, let me know what you guys think. (I know that this scan isn't of the highest quality, my scanner is pretty small and I don't have access to a larger one.)
I started working on some actual story drawings today, they are taking a lot longer than I thought they would, so here is an old drawing of Jackie I did a while ago.![]()
Hey there, this looks like a good beginning to a sketchbook here, a question though. There is a drastic improvement in the quality between the first three pics and the rest of the lot, how do you account for that?
Strangely, with all the nudity around I enjoyed the picture of the demon (4th from the top) most. I suppose it was all the shading, it made it look more dynamic. Same with the second to last one (my second favorite of the bunch) of the angel who lost her wings.
Anyhow keep going, if you can make another progression jump like the first one you'd be doing pretty good.
I think the problem with pen&ink is that there is no Ctrl+z command.
writers and artists have a lot in common -- we both draw from life, we both paint pictures, and we'll both spend to many sleepless nights on our work.

Gunther409-The difference in style between the images is simply a result of me trying to find a style for a comic book project I'm working on. I'm glad you liked the angel without wings because that is the way I was planning on going in the future. Thanks for the comment
This is my first story picture, it took forever to draw and it was too big for my scanner so I took a digital picture of it, I tried to clean it up in photoshop but I'm not that good with it yet. I'm sorry if it looks too blurry.
I'm still working on some new story sketches, they should be ready for posting in a little while. In the mean time I'll post a pictures of some of the other characters. One is an old mortician, and the other is a psycho murderer
I wanted to finish this pic, but it is now past one AM, and the red bull is wearing off so I'll post this as a WIP and post the finished one hopefully after I wake up. I need to fix the arm of the woman lying down, but I can't see any other problems that won't be fixed in the normal course of finishing up the picture. Okay it is time for bed!![]()

Hey man thanks for the comments, I think I will do somemore of the 'gritty' stuff soon. I've just been bogged down with the university at the moment so it might take me a while, check back in a week.
You got some nice stuff going on here. I see the style your going for and I have to say you have quite a bit of potential if you continue to practice. My favorite is definitely the inked angle loosing her wings my second favorite would be the first one of girls sleeping in bed. Very cool stuff man. I would like to see you get your hands on a wacom and photoshop to see these concepts in digital format, but until then you might want to experiment with some acrylics. Some of the same affects can be achieved and a lot of the same colors can be brought out. It's just.. messier..Anyhow, keep up the good work.. PRACTICE!
Thanks again for the comments.
Criticism Welcome : http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99944
SGR- glad you like my stuff. Unfortunatly I can't afford to get a Wacom, but I do have photoshop, the very first post on this thread was colored in photoshop, I haven't had much time to practice with it, but hopefully I will have a chance to get some more pracitce soon.
I've been working on this picture for the better part of two days, and I don't think its going to get any betterI might come back to it later, but I'm done with it for now
rep the D man, I'm an eastsider myself!! From the looks of the drawings work on drawing through the figures, this resource can help: http://www.posemaniacs.com/blog/ good luck

blahh
I checked out posemaniacs.com and used it to come up with this quick character drawing of Reya, this is the angel that was in the first post, the scars on her back are from getting her wings torn off.
It also occured to me that most of you have no idea what Detroit looks like, so I am going to be posting some images of the cooler buildings in my home town over the next couple of days. This is the old Masonic Temple theatre just outside of the downtown area. I did some work on it to make it so it might be able to blend in with my drawings. Let me know what you guys think!

I was downtown about a month ago and I tooks some pictures for reference, since I want people viewing this thread to have a better idea of what Detroit looks like.
This is a random picture I took of some old buildings, the big one in the middle is the Book Tower, it is an old American Vertical Style building.
This is anothre American Vertical building, it is called the David Scott building
This is my personal favorite building, it is now called the Gaurdian building
This is the Greater Penobscott building
These are just some random old buildings I thought looked kind of cool, I'm not going to bother naming all of them
Like I said above, I'm posting these pictures to give everyone a better idea of what my home town actually looks like, if you have any questions or you would like to see some more please let me know.
I decided to do some work on my characters. This is Hamon, the main villian of my comic book, he is a formless demon who possesed a man to build it a body out of stolen body parts. It is going to wear a mask while it is being built, tell me which of the masks you like better.![]()
This is a newer, hopefully more realistic look for the main character of my story.

This is a new drawing of the Hamon Character, I just updated this to fix the size of the head, I'll do some more work on it later.
This started as a quick sketch, but I think I might do a little more with it, I'm working on a background right now.

This is a new pic of Reya, I wanted to post it here before I start inking it. I'm trying to come up with a good style for the story and I think this one is pretty good.

These are a few quick sketches of the monster leviathan, I think I might end up doing a bigger finished piece with this.

I just finished inking the character sketch for Reya and I think it turned out pretty good.
This was going to be another version of Leviathan, but it ended up being too different. Maybe I'll use the design for something else.
I just got one of those little moleskin sketchbooks. Here are a couple pages from it.
My first finished peice
I almost never do anything even close to finished, but recently I decided I would take a picture from the beginning to the end. This was a rough one, but I think it turned out very well. If you see something that needs work on the final let me know.

I decided to keep working in my new moleskin sketchbook.
These pages are focused on my Jackie Houlihan character, and a few quick anatomy studies.
I wanted to try out a new style with my Reya character.
I looked through some of my old art from High school, I found a whole bunch of my old comic book stuff and thought I should post it. As far as I remember, most of these were just studies after other comic book artists. This was done before it occured to me to use photo reference.
