    Thanks for the comment!

Yeah. I know the colors on that one are wonky. I was overcompensating for the fact that my digital paintings always feel rather gray in color to me. Looking back on it, I see I was definitely not setting the colors right.

A restart of the painting in the last post, and also did some quick sketches of my unsuspecting coworkers from life. Scanner still not fixed, so bear with me on the photos.Name: 2013-02-05 00.22.59.jpeg

Today was a good day for art.

More life sketches, more work on my afro lady.

The bicycle sketch was a funny story. I sat down on a bench and started sketching, and this guy is sitting next to me. He glances over and is non-obtrusively watching me sketch. We're sitting there for about 20 minutes, and then I finish, and he gets up and gets on the bike. At which point, of course, it becomes clear it was his. We both laugh, and then he says "thank you," and bikes off.

More people from life. More more more more. Don't get distracted by the crosshatching - I know it's fun, but focus on capturing the human body.

krysjez, thanks for taking the time to comment on my sb. I'll definitely do more. I usually add the crosshatching in after the person has moved away from that position. It's definitely not my main focus with the sketches.

A bunch of gestures from the http://lovecastle.org/draw/ script, 60 sec each. I noticed I started working smaller and smaller as I did these, and was able to do more. Ha. Also a couple sketches from the courtyard at work. I like sketching urban environments, I've found. I don't think I've ever done it before. Name: 2013-02-15 23.45.17.jpg

I had some good studies yesterday, and this afternoon. Then crap happened and I went bleh. I swear my necks got worse the more I did them. Oh well. I'll work more tomorrow.

Lady with the pretty butt is from imagination. The furniture is a room I was waiting in for a long time. And those necks are a pain in the neck.

    Hey Moonskittles!

    Thanks for dropping by

Something that I suggest would be to refrain from pressing too hard with your pencil, especially when shading, it can make things look stiff and blocky. Use different pencil leads to go build up your tones, like a 6b, that way you won't need to force down the values and cause strain to your wrist. Did you use pen for some of your sketches? I'm liking the study on post #71.

Hey there. Thanks for the tip. Though I'm a little confused. I can see why I'd do that for a finished piece, but it seems to me that for a quick study of a person from life, I need to capture their shape quickly, not fumble with switching pencils. And yes, some are pen.

I fixed my scanner! Yay. Have some watercolor pieces. The first was done a few weeks ago, the second was finished a couple days ago.

    Thanks snatti!

The first one from above just got worse the more I played with it. It might need a reboot. Here's the other half.
