OOOook, just trying out software for recording myself painting, seems to work, still don't know why there is a huge black border around the edges though. This is just a 30 min test, I had no idea it would look so Brachna-ish!
    And its probably too long...

    Whats up man!
I've been looking your sketchbook all day long.
It's really cool that you didn't change the thread because this way we can see all your progress from a good student to a f@kc#ing great artist!
Something happened after June 2008 with your work. You started to improve really fast then. I don't know what happened but it was amazing to see the result.

About your Sargent study, it is awesome, but I would suggest you to try a different approach. Try to use the biggest brush as possible for every single area initially, and try to use as few brushstrokes as you can.
Something like, 12 brush strokes to finish the eye, 6 for the mouth.
So it will challenge you to think a lot before every stroke and be very precise. Of course it will add a very "confident" look to your stuff. This was the way he used to paint.
But who am I to suggest something to someone much better than me.
    Anyway, congratulations!
    Cheers mate.

Hey, just went through your sketchbook and loved every minute of it. I've noticed a definate improvement since the beginning. You keep reaching new heights! I particularly like all the foreshortening you use, and the stark light you cast your characters against.

I've got your works saved under my important historical artists file - you're between Walter Clark and Ralph Clarkson, in case you were curious

Ah man you gotta stop and look at yo'stuff man, it is quite simply flabbergasting (or gabberflasting) how far you have come. I mean, when you compare where you started out with where you are now, it is just incredible. I still remain unconvinced that you were not kidnaped by aliens and had some serious changes made to you, but that is just me

Anyhoot, kudos on being so frakking good. I mean, I would love to work in a studio with you, seeing all that I could have learned Maybe one day*crossing fingers, making typing a BITCH*

Love looking through your sketchbook, it's always inspiring! For your next environment, maybe put a little more initial thought into composition? The one you posted is painted well, but it's pretty static (lots of near-horizontal shapes, the whole pic can be broken into pretty even 1/3's from top to bottom, and having your large dark mass almost dead vertical... those things all might be fighting you in terms of getting depth). But like you said, it was only a 30 min test anyway Really great stuff all around, and thanks for posting the vids too! Always a treat to watch someone work.

Hey there D@niel, cheers for leaving a comment in my sketchbook. Nice updates recently, and I especially appreciate the videos, It's nice to see how you build up your work. I am an admirer of your colours (especially flesh tones and shadow-play) and so anything giving a hint at how you work blocking in colours is helpful to me.

Cheers for reminding me that there is an IDW forum..I almost forgot about it.. Voted for you, not to help you get to the workshop, but because your piece was IMHO the best one out of them all.
Hoping to be able to get to the workshop myself, if I can scrounge up the cash ( ), and if so I might try catch up with you- I'll be the fat old guy with the beard! (I turn 33 today so I'm assuming I'll be among the older ones attending).

Hahaha! Okay... I feel like a stupid. I was the first one to post in your sb, and all I can say is:

HOLY CRAP you've improved since then!

I've been watching your progress all over the boards. You have made leaps and bounds since you started.

Congratulations on all the accomplishments you're achieving and pre-grats on all the ones you WILL make

I'm re-subscribed to your book. Must've took you off so long ago.
