So I'm making a design for a skateboard deck for a contest that is being held.

The theme is "space invaders"

So I made a small concept, and need your objective opinion on this.

Hello,

I could use some help. Would anyone mind doing a paint over? I'm especially stuck on detailing the character before paint and adding values afterwards.

Would love some WIP critique on this!

My goal is to add way more detail, I'd like to see if anyone else sees some errors before hand though.

This is one I've been working on, and though there are elements that I like I find it has a lack of pop. I think it might be to do with ill-defined lighting. Any other comments or suggestions welcome.

Hello everyone,

My name is maria mar, i'm an illustrator based in Portugal, currently working at a small game company as a game artist.
Please forgive my english skills ^^


I've been a silent follower of the ConceptArt.org forums for some years now, but never attempted to post anything because, really, i had a long way to run before that. Now i feel like i've came to point where i'm stuck and won't evolve any more as an artist unless i really push it. For that, any advice you could give would be useful.

Here's a sketch of Morgana from The Mists of Avalon. I've been reading the books and felt inspired to draw this complex, wonderful character. Her motivations are good but the results come out as evil sometimes. I find that rather interesting.

Now, i am aware there's a lot of mistakes here, especially on her face, but if you could point them out before i give it another try maybe it will be better. She's going to be in a dark forest, blending her dress, the lightest hue on her face. Next i'm going to take this sketch, fix it and get it into that environment.

Oh boy, my first thread on conceptart, I feel nervous already.
I need your opinion on this picture. It's not meant to be photo-realistic, more like a humorous sketch. I still want it to look good though.
So, does something about their proportions or poses look wrong/awkward to you? Does the monochromatic color scheme look boring, does it need more contrast, maybe? Anything else that just looks bad? Thanks in advance!

hey guys name is Derrick, and I could really use some MAJOR help here. Im 19 going on 20 and need help with my drawing skills. I want to be a animator/ comcept artist, if that is possible. Im currently going to communicty college to get the unimportant stuff done with first, so i have a lot of free time, but i dont know where to start. Ive done one drawing but its nothing special. I wonder if someone can lead to a path that can help me be as good as people like Matt Khor from CtrlPaint.com or Peter Han from CGMA or dare I say it...Glen Keane from Disney. I know its going to be hard work, and I know Im really late in the game, but I relly want to do this so if there is anyone who can help me, show me, and guid me, please speak up.

Hey guys,

Haven't posted anything for a while. Thought I would post up something I've been slowly working on for a bit. Hoping to get some helpful crits on it. Really wanted to make it look like an epic battle between a giant and some human tribe or something. Obviously still pretty early stages but so far it just doesn't feel right to me. Just not epic enough and it feels kind of flat. Not sure how to change that. I'm confident the scene isn't out of my range of ability. That said, feel free to tell me otherwise. Any help would be much appreciated.

here's an early WIP of a tower in a swamp. I wanted to make it sorta forlorn. Like it was abandoned ages ago, but perhaps an evil person has taken up residence there lately. I was planning on hinting at that last bit with the sort of opening(s) at the top, perhaps having some (magic?) light come out.

I thought I'd ask for help before going any further though, and digging myself into a hole. I feel like there's just something off about it but I'm not sure. I plan to lighten up the right side, because instinct tells me that it would be brighter due to ambient light. Might be wrong. Also plan to redo the 'detail', which is just guesswork right now. And finally, I think I should soften the edges at the top of the tower, but I'm not sure how much. Any thoughts or help would be welcome

I'm working on this painting of a dryad, and I'm just not sure where to go from here. Should I incorporate a large amount of detail in the bg, or should she be the main focus? What colors do I need to bring in to give it a more organic look (obviously it's nowhere near where I want it to be)?
I've already added more branches to the sketch, as well as leaves, and a bird perched on a branch to the right.
Any other related comments are welcome.

Here is a wip image I'm working on. I want to work it up to a fairly polished painting. Still in pretty early stages, so I'd like to get some feedback along the way. This started as an experiment in Alchemy, and I decided to turn it into kind of a creature/character portrait with a cinematic feel. I want him to be entering some sort of cavern dwelling where he's not sure what he'll find.

So how about the composition? I tried to set the character in the middle third and his lantern in the right third. I'm also no sure about lighting, if the light from the lantern is hitting in the right spots. Any other problems you guys see, let me know.

Hello Conceptors! The name is Sehz and the following are a few half finished pages for an original comic book I'm working on while the first draft of a script sits and percolates (writer by trade). Specifically I'm looking for criticism in the storytelling department, IE: camera angles I've chosen, image juxtaposition, visual rhythm, clarity, yadda yadda yadda. From what I've read in the stickies most artists are OOOOOVVVEER giving out the same basic compositional criticisms (bad anatomy, lighting, tangents, lack of a coherent FG MG BG, etc) and I've been studying up on a number of ways to spot/fix errors of that nature, but if so inclined, any critiques in those areas are welcome! I am quickly realizing as the layouts for later pages get better and better that Im probably going to have to go back and redraw the first several pages anyhow. OK! Here we go! Be HARSH! Be VICIOUS! I've gotten worse.
