I've been getting more into detailed sculpture lately, and it's lead me to consider using two either magic sculp or Apoxy sculpt for certain things, and then mounting them on a super-sculpey main sculpture. This means that whatever two part solution I use is going to spend some quality time in my kitchen oven with the rest of the sculpey.

Is there a danger in this at all? I recall seeing something about gas being released last time I looked, but I couldn't find any posts regarding it this time around. Thanks in advance!

So my name is (johnathan Lynch) but you can call me jonjon (im new) btw. Imma aspiring artist. I do more traditional art than digital but im getting more n more into it. im not a stationed artist meaning that i dont do one or two particular mediums or concepts/designs. Mainly because i havent found my passion in a particular form of art yet so i tend to try everything. But im somewhat grounded on being a concept artist so that where imma focus mostly on but expect me to venture off.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on whether or not having multiple art styles could work against a budding artist.

A friend pointed out to me that if didn't stick to a a style,I would not be able to succeed in attracting a following. He asked me to figure out who I am as an artist.

I would like to go further into comics. My styles vary from chibi like for a younger audience, to darker themes and complicated plots for older readers. The idea of using only one style seems restrictive. I enjoy being free to create a style that fits the tone of a story. I don't know if this would work against me in 'getting known'or not.

Any suggestions?

I've been working on this thing for a while. I feel like I should ask for advice before I start refining and refining and changing, and all of that boring stuff.

One specific question too, how do you set up perspective for words? As you all know, the top panel and bulletin board of the Tardis has words. And I worked on getting the perspective right for the Tardis, so I want the words to share the same perspective. I still poses the lines. Should I draw it in? Type it then warp? What is an easy way to do this.

Other than that, any other opinions are freaking awesome.

Hi, I'm about to graduate highschool (on the 31st >:D) and study art in college!

Anyways like most people, I've come here to become a better artist! One day I want to become some sort of freelance artist, but I'm not even close to that level. I like to draw anime and manga stuff, and I'm not really sure what this forum thinks of that, my goal is to get on the levels of drawing like Tsunako. I love Tsunako's character design.

Hi all

I've actually been a member of CA for a while and have been not so good with posting updates, but still slightly better at continuing to sketch and paint in my spare time. Aaanyways - I have been experimenting with acrylic paints. The most difficult thing I have found is just colour in general, mixing, relative hues, etc.. which I'm attempting to get better at. My brush technique also needs a lot of improvement.

I finally went for it and bought some artist quality paints after a fair few studies. This is what I consider to be my first proper painting. My ability to get decent images up on here is very limited so apologies for the poor quality. I guess at this stage, though, I'd like critique on more general aspects, such as light/dark balance, correct placement of highlights, and just your general feeling about the image. Hopefully this will suffice.

It's not quite finished yet, so I'd also like to hear your ideas for which direction I could take it to completion.

I would like some recommendations on books or websites that goes more in depth on composition or design, if possible maybe more focused on character/creature design. I did read up a few things on basic composition, but I only understand how to to use it on still life type drawings.

Hi there! I'm recruiting an artist who can give a unique look for a puzzle game getting ready for release this summer.

The planned budget is anywhere from $2000 to $3000 USD.

We're estimating about a month's worth of work for this.

I am the art director for a miniature-based wargame, the flagship title for a startup. We have in-house concept art and contracted orthographic views. We're looking to hire freelance for our 3D modelling needs. The gist of the project involves 24 or so units per army (of which there are 3 currently) with a few variations in limbs, weaponry, heads/faces, armor, etc, that would closely follow our final concepts.

It would have to be a relatively clean mesh and should be riggable for posing (or come with a rough rig.) There is a mixture of both organic units, like soldiers or creatures, as well as vehicles, mechanical walkers and more fantastic soft-science constructs. The style will be semi-realistic, as far as anatomy and proportions go.

Naturally, this is a paying gig. We have a reasonable budget looking at sub to low hundreds depending on level of detail. We are looking to pay per-model and would expect a somewhat quick turn-around time per-model, perhaps a couple days each (with longer for more complex models).
