Hi!
My name is Łukasz Zaręba. I'm from Poland.

I try to make a living of game graphics and paintings, but I'm also currently studying and making a bigger project with 2 of my friends. ;)
I'd like to show you some of my works. I would really appreciate if you could tell me how to improve them.

My biggest problem is... Those pictures are fine... But still It seems to me that there's lack of expression. I see all those great pictures here or on deviantart and they are like WOW, AMAZING.
I always feel a NEED to detail a picture. And my pictures look like sketches until they are really detailed. :/ I'm having difficulties working on a picture other way than trying to make it look real.

Thanks for watching! Don't bother to tell anything that comes to your mind (unless it's really really dirty mind). ;)

I'll better post them pictures.

Hi, I am Kat. I started drawing 8 months ago for character animation, practicing only gestures from time to time. Last month, I discovered that I actually REALLY want to become a concept artist, so I made the big switch. Now I can dedicate all my time to drawing!

I'm learning through the aid of books and video. The quality of content out there is mindblowing!! Feng Zhu is my biggest inspiration. I'm currently working on anatomy. Here's work from when I just started, and work that I'm doing now. I'm really proud of my progress. I'll put stuff up from time to time. My goal is to see big improvements each week ! Feel free to give me advice. Being self-taught, I'm going to need it ! :asslick:

Hi guys! A friend of mine is having this problem where her lines are sort of wavy and uneven. Please see the attached picture. Well, I sort of searched around the Net for solutions to the issue. So far, I've told her to make sure she gets the latest driver for her Bamboo, reset it via the Tablet Utility, and disable the Tablet Input Service in Win 7. She said she's gonna do those once she gets home.
In case it doesn't work, can you guys suggest any more solutions?

Hello everyone!

As you know it's important to be able to draw a mannequin that is a "simplfied skeleton" or simple "framweork" to be able to gesture and practice anatomy.

However I am having a hard time finding the skeleton/framwork that is "right" for me http://sta.sh/0qrdgezx2z8 and a lot of trouble applying it to models.

I find the circle method the easiest ... but I think it's very uneffective for foreshortening and perspective poses. http://s276.photobucket.com/user/her...b63ae.jpg.html, http://s276.photobucket.com/user/her...a145f.jpg.html
http://s276.photobucket.com/user/her...a304c.jpg.html

I want to be able to draw the mannequin from imagination mostly in order to draw from imagination and also to practice from life.

Being completely honest some skeletons like loomi's (http://www.deviantart.com/users/outg...aleanatomy.jpg http://23gallery.com/wp-content/uplo...ton-figure.png are not just super complicated but I take more time drawing that.. than actually practice from a model

Seriously loomis that's not "simple" (I guess that's becuase he is an art genius...)

In all seriousness I need a way to "simplfy" the body that works for me in order to start practicing gestures and basic anatomy

Could someone recomend me a simplified skeleton/mannequin framework ?

Note : I have some experience drawing cubes from imagination on many angles if that helps
thank you for your time!

:right: Deadline - Sunday, May 26 10PM GMT :left:

In the C.S. Lewis book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first book in the The Chronicles of Narnia series, we are introduced to the evil
White Witch, Jadis. During her reign over Narnia she began the Long Winter, a curse that magically forced Narnia into a hundred-year state
of frozen snow and ice. The curse lasted all through her reign, thus earning her the title, the "White Witch".

At seven foot tall, Jadis was a strikingly beautiful and Amazonian woman, with long black hair and paper white skin. She had an excellent sense
of style, and always dressed in an extravagant manner that showed off her power and status, this included flowing romanesque robes, furs
and a golden crown. Jadis also carried a magic wand which would give her the power to turn anyone into stone.

This week we would like you to design Jadis - The White Witch.

The Guidelines:

Gender is Female

Genre is Fantasy

Please include her wand

Focus Challenge: Gesture and Faces (Optional & not required for entry into the poll)

Put her in a pose that reflects her superiority over the kingdom

Give her face an attitude. Not your normal expressionless face. Give her some character

The Rules

Finals must be posted in the finals thread before the deadline

Final post must include the CHoW number and the artists username at the bottom of the image

At least 3/4 of the character must be visible

Sketches or rushed artwork will not be accepted into the poll

No photograph paint overs, must be 100% original work

At least two wips posted with your final in the finals thread

Background is optional

Have fun!

I'm still trying to find my footing here but any crit that you have would be great. These are some illustrations I came up with for my Russian Folklore and Fairytales class. I decided to draw Baba Yaga and Koschei the Deathless. (Let me know if you'd like them to be resized, I guess?)

Hi all,

I've long looked at the amazing art work by the members of this forum and longed to be able to draw myself. I now find myself with a large amount of time on my hands and am determined to 'master' the pencil. So I'm going to draw for as long as possible everyday and post the results here.

Any advice on what to learn when and how will be greatly appreciated.

For the first week I spent my time trying to trace basic shapes accurately using my wacom tablet. This was met with little success... Anyway I decided that was not the way to go and after a week of drawing wobbely lines in directions I defiantly did not intended was a little fed up.
So Ive spent a couple of days working through 'Fun with a pencil' and copied some Star Wars Storyboards which was fun.
I've also started going through "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain".

Fringeworks Ltd is currently looking for cover artists.

Fringeworks is a small UK-based publisher working hard to establish a solid reputation within the publishing industry, and we are looking for new artists whose unique styles will stand out from the crowd.

We have previously sourced our principal cover artist though conceptart, and are now considering additional artists for other imprints. This has been a successful arrangement, but demand now outstrips supply, and we have two new imprints that require different styles.

Fringeworks is our principal imprint, covering multiple speculative fiction genres. We have a principal artist who has provided all the covers for the books produced so far, but now require a second artist to extend our output.

KnightWatch Press is our horror imprint, which currently uses graphic designs rather than bespoke art. With more than a dozen books published so far, we are looking to raise the bar and to find some new and exciting artists to work with us.

Spekulicius is our forthcoming imprint for author collections. Each book will require an author-selected cover, and we would be keen to have artists to consider for occasional work.

We are also exploring non-fiction and gamebook imprints.

Our most pressing projects, Tiki Terror Tales and (Sherlock) Holmes vs. Zombies, are both KnightWatch projects, and would serve as an excellent way of identifying good candidates. So if you are interested in working with us please:

email enquiries@fringeworks.co.uk, providing a brief introduction

supply a portfolio link

provide a concept cover sketch for either "Tiki Terror Tales" or "Holmes vs. Zombies" based only upon the titles

provide an estimation of how quickly you could turn around such a cover

Our standard term is a 10% net royalty for cover art backed up by a no-displacement agreement (i.e. we will not change the cover art to re-market a book). This typically covers ebook and paperback book covers.
