What is the best way to insure that characters and storyline that I have created can not be stolen from me? I have a set of characters and a storyline that I want to eventually publish but there is a good chance that someone I know will try to claim my work for his own and maybe even legally steal it from me.
I have looked into copyrighting and trademarking the work and I know about good 'ole poorman's copyrights but I want to make sure that its impossible for the average Joe to rip me off that easily. I want a sense of security.
What format is the best for written works like novels and comics?
I also what to prove that I am the sole creator and owner of my work no matter what anyone else says or any poormans copyright they may have forged.
The reason I ask these questions is due to someone that has manipulated me and backstabbed me its a long story... I want to insure that he cannot screw me over again!
