When posting artwork, how do you make one of your images appear as a thumbnail so when people browse for a topic, they can see the thumbnail image next to your thread?

Use the attachment feature. It's the button that looks like a paper clip.
Whatever image you attach to the first post of your thread will show up as the thumbnail.
