Hello, all.

I've been gone for quite a while, and to tell you the truth ... intimidated by a lot of the great work I've been seeing. I haven't had much that I thought was much for show, but I thought I would drag myself back to the forums for some good old critiques and (hopefully) to continue to improve. So ... for now, I'll just show off a little sketch I just finished. Its not much, but here goes...

looks good :O that octo is kinda cute xD
being intimidated by other guys work goesnt help you to get better ;)
i made good improvement after thinkking about drawing and its rules like fundamentals ( foreshorening perspectives vanishing points )
besides drawing stuff for fun u can focus on drawing stuff for learning and improvement .. i done that alot tokeep my self save from being intimidated ;)

post more !

ps : analyze forms and shapes , simpliefie their volumes and brake em down into easy geometry - geometry is easier to draw then complex forms and courved volumes and shapes - when u know the cubical geometrie its much simpler to get courved forms done

Thanks. Color is my number one problem followed closely by perspective. I rarely post that stuff. Main problem is trying to keep things from looking "muddy". Happens the most when Im trying for fleshtones. In photoshop, I use the saturation button in the color pallet a lot. I've been slowly graduating to using cools rather than saturation (which I see as grays). I suppose I should post some of that to show you what I mean.

I think before you start to color digital you should explore Anatomy a bit more untill you get there structure correct, right now you have some issues there, so dont focus to much on digital, just have fun with what your doing. It looks like your trying to imrpess us all by doing complicated poses and such, you mentioned you are intimidated by others work, but its not about them (unless your trying to help a fellow artist) its about you and about improving yourself!

Just have fun, otherwise its just agony. The better you get the mor you will want to draw!

Thanks for the feedback! Will definitely work on that. But for now... more (attempting) to take advice on the figure drawing. Drat ... I need to find a live model studio...

Sorry guys about the second image ... photobucket doesnt like nude photos, let alone drawings... but here goes. I picked up some brown paper sketchbooks as you can see. I'm having a good time with the range of values I can use with it. Great stuff.

This is about five or six straight hours of work ... a Master Drawing of "Adam and Eve", an engraving by Albrecht Durer. I thought I'd go ahead and post before my hands fell off.

nice stuff man your goblin guy looks like hes bout to fall over and if i was that lady i would not be nekkid out in the snow our digital has the same issues we dont use enough hard edges for definition

Hahah ... yeah ... I didnt think she made much sense either ... it was kinda one of those spur of the moment "blah, this looks good" kinda things. But hey ... it was fun to do none the less.

I think i see what youre talking about there. I might want to work on my direction a little bit. For him to be moving in the direction I need him to be going, his leg should probably move a bit to the right...

I'm really hoping that this one has better edges than previously ... either that, or the airbrushing on my last work has created the illusion of hardness for what would normally be seen as soft...

And as far as color goes ... I didnt think I used any cool colors in this ... maybe I unwittingly threw some cooler reds into the appropriate spots.

Hmmmm... perplexed ....
