One of the most frequent questions we get here is regarding the gallery part of the website.
I'm sorry to tell you that this part of the site is not functional right now.
Hopefully it will be fixed in the future, but I don't have any information about that.
Please feel free to post your work elsewhere on the site, start a sketchbook thread, etc.

thank you :)

No, I meant if the gallery doesn't work then why bother putting it there and then letting you upload lots of pictures only to find out that you've wasted your time. If it's not a functioning part of the site then just get rid of it and then there won't be lots of people asking why it doesn't work or wasting their time.

That's what I was asking sorry if I didn't make it clearer.

The gallery part of the site WAS working at one point, but something happened that messed it up, I think.
The problem is that we don't have the programmers to work on the site right now. It would take effort to fix it as well as effort to remove it, and we don't have the people to do either of those things.

No programmers working on the site? That's strange, I see things changing here all the time that would require someone with some insight into how vBulletin works to do them...

I'd volunteer my labor freely if there is a proper test section mirror, not sure what kind of setup you guys are running at all.

We do have people that volunteer their time to keep the forums running.
But the other part of the website is not part of vBulletin. It is built separately and uses php.

I'm not really the best person to ask about the particulars of the setup, I just give what information I know.

Aha. I've been really trying to get the gallery to work for along time too - to no avail. And I do tend to agree about "what's the point?".

Being able to peruse someone's gallery all at once is one of the things I would like most on the site. The bulletin boards, though good, aren't as convenient to use in terms of being able to see an artist's work all at once.

Wow - It's a pity about the gallery, though I did notice that, in the main gallery, if you change your browse settings to "list", then you can browse recently added images.

I go to Westwood College, and we have both programming and web design departments that are full of people that need stuff to put on their resume'. You could probably get some of them to work on it for free.

Good to know. I've uploaded 13 arts today and crap. Hope that already uploaded will be there when the gallery is restored.

Don't want to sound like a dunsky, but where are the sketchbooks? And is the gallery up and running soon, because I have no visual reference of what I'm uploading.

Fist mentioned "February 8th, 2007, 01:24 AM"

Come one guys. The Web is full of Nerds and PHP freaks. This is a matter of maybe half an hour to fix it. Get into it and get done with it. If money is the problem, i (and many others too, i think) will donate what´s necessary to get this done.

If it was "a matter of maybe half an hour to fix it" I guarantee you it would be done by now. We are removing the whole 3.0 section and replacing it. We are also holding workshops to raise the money to support the site.

Thanks, everybody for your patience.

i fully agree with the above ...... i was getting really excited hoping it had been fixed as i inquired about this problem a few months ago .....but it is clear it's actually been an issue for ages now.

I'm still trying to upload images to my sketchbook and all I'm getting is:

print_standard_error(...)
is now redundant. Instead, use
standard_error(fetch_error(...))

Is this the infamous gallery that isn't working? If so, how do I post my images if I can't upload anything? Shall I [img] every image from another location?

Cheers

*Update* Sorry, just found how to add images by going to the relevant thread, post and add images by clicking the paperclip icon.

If it's really bugging someone, I suppose they could start a sketchbook entitled "[Someone's] Gallery" and then put a link in their signature that says the same thing. I've seen a heck of a lot worse sketchbook titles.
