mr jones, you never cease to amaze me... this piece just feels so vibrant and full of energy... the crazy thing is, you could have gone in even closer to cover about half of the facial area that you've covered, and we'd all probably still recognize you...

i absolutely love the contrast between the colors of your face and the striking blue/green of your eyes... and those wild scratchy strokes are awesome... great stuff, still look forward to seeing your stuff everyday... :)

Cool! It might be just my obsession, but I think I see something Foster-ly about the colours. It's something about the expression as well... Am I completely off track? It's emotionally terrific anyway! Must be hard getting new ideas for setup, and this was cetainly a welcome surprise, you're doing fantastic. I'd give both my arms to be able to draw like you... :D

like a cool pepsi in the heat of phoenix ..

you are going insane! it is good to see you at a different distance. i had some diffuculty picking today's soundtrack, but have no fear. i have been trying to pick out songs that capture the mood of the peice to me, and i like this twist:

andrew jones september 20th self portrait soundtrack:
funny farm - dr. demento

it is interesting to see how much your portraits have changed from the previous months! hey, much loves guys

nostrant: i love that paradox.

Hey Andrew, I?m afraid that my vocabulary and means of using it are not sufficient to say how much I enjoy seeing your work each day. You have such the adventurous heart! Your vision helps expand mine!

Specifically, this piece has such energy of line! Searching, searching, finding, finding again. My favorite part, besides the nose, is the upper eyelid. I just like the combination of colors and shape.

the nose and philtrum are my favorite in this one - refreshing to see doing onlly a part of your face, instead of a usual full shot. :)

thanks everyone, this portrait was a very refreshing experience for me. I dove straight into this one. sat down picked up a mirror, and fired away with both barrels without undoing or looking back. and tried to forget about any rules of formula I usualy apply to my strokes or color , just instinct and energy.
I used a hand held mirror, started with my eye and went from there using the dry ink brush in painter, the colors are done with the wet eraser watercolor,
the linework was inspired by hedlambs last portrait, and there is definately some foster inspired color relationships going on. Red noses are cool.

thanks guys

Wowzers
Red noses, red knuckles, i think they're called points of articulation. I might be wrong though.
