It’s been a while since I have posted anything. Working over the summer just drained my time and I couldn’t get anything done, but now that I am going to art school so I have time to sculpt.

This is the first bust I have done and the head is about 6 cm tall. I find bust are much easier to make because I don’t have to mess around with the armature. I still have a bunch of work to do especially on the beard. Crits and comments welcome.

I know its fantasy, but wouldn't his lower tusk poke his eye out when he closes his mouth? other than that I like the bone structure, post more pics mate, like to see progress :)

Man, was I wrong when I said I would have more time to sculpt. With midterms, paper and all my studio classes I barley have time to sleep, I love it.

Here is a small update on the orc and a picture of a project for my sculpture class. Thanks and hope you enjoy and as always, crits are most welcome.

RenegadePogo - this is just super sculpy mixed with white and black fimo. I like the grey colour, shadow and smaller details seem to pop more then with the translucent pink fleshy tint.

zantergog - yeah your right. I just stuck the teeth in as a place holder without much thought. I have made then a bit wider from the face now but I plan on working the jaw more once I am ready to texture the beard.

I hadn’t worked on this piece since my last post up until a couple days ago. My school work has kind of sucked away my time. A new semester just started so I had a few days free time and I got fed up with it sitting on my shelf so, I started up again.

The left side of the face still looks a little off, but I can’t figure out what looks wonky with it. IV looked at in mirror and all the other "different perspective" gimmicks, but every time I try to change it, it ends up looking worse. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also plan to figure out what to do with the body and I think I will re-work the teeth.

Holy crap! That's all that can be said. I love the stark contrast between the last pic on the first set of pics (strange wording I know) and the first pic on the last set of pics. Great progress! What's up with the fist through the wall? A visual manifestation of your feelings toward lack of free time? Good stuff bud, keep it up.

p.s. how do you do the hair like that? I do it wrong is all I know.

Sick!

Very wicked, the scar is a very nice touch, A+ on execution!

Did you draw it down before attempting to sculpt?

Jesus, i will be honest when i tell u that the very first pics of the sculpt left me expecting less. But when you posted that last set i was amased, great energy, great hair, and an amazing worn out hat. for some reason i am ultra impressed with the hat.

as for the teeth that you are still going to work on, are u going to have them both intact, one broken, or one with a metal hood thing on?

Thank you for you kind comments everyone. It is greatly appreciated.

SauerPauer - ah yes, the hand. That was a project from my sculpture class last semester. We had to something dealing with body casting so I cast my face and hand, and stuck my fist through my mouth. As for the meaning.... a visual manifestation of your feelings toward lack of free time? Lol, no I just wanted to do something cool. I got the idea of Peter Jackson's Brain Dead, when a zombie puts his fist through the back of a chicks head.

The hair is a little hard to explain. I looked though lots of hair tutorial and wasn’t satisfied (or couldn’t do) most them so I combine some of their ideas with my own method. I am very happy with the way it turned out and if you want I could post a quick tutorial.

cH_aos - No, I can't draw worth crap.

manslauter - I'm no sure what im going to do with teeth exactly. The teeth are separated too much and look a little pirana-ish. The big tooth on the left along the scar line is actually partially sliced off. It doesn’t translate well in the pictures, I may re-sculpt it.

Nice texturing on the hat and the missing upper teeth is a nice touch. Beard is hairy and skin is ... ich, touchable. Its in the details!

Small update.
Iv had this piece %95 done for awhile now but I ran out of SS and have been unable to obtain any for the last few months. I should be able to get some in the next few weeks.

I had to rush the body sculpt in order to get it ready for a show and I am not completely happy with it. I had some of those frilly hangy down rope things captain have on their shoulder pads but, I purposely broke them off. I was going to make some new ones and discovered I was out of SS.

As of every time before this Crits and comments welcome

Cheers
