painter 7 = painter classic?

I just got my wacom today! yay! but its only a crappy graphire cuz im poor, anywho, i was wondering if painter 7 is the samething as painter classic, anyone have any info?? which one is better?? and how much does painter 8 cost?? im guessing like $500

The bad news is that is that Painter classic is to Painter what Photoshop Elements is to Photoshop; a stripped down version. The good news is that if you have Classic you can get Painter 8 for the upgrade price, which is about $130. Still a chunk of change, but a lot less than $500.
