I have a important question for you guys.
I'm dutch, okay. What I'd like to know is, can I get a scholarship in the States or Canada?
and offcourse where can I look up stuff like that?
I'm really looking around for a collage outside of Holland, cause to be honest...
we suck, big time. But without the scholarship I don't think I'll make it to study there.
So if you can help me, I will thank you all SOOO much

well as an international student you wont have access to government aid, and probably wont have access to alot of other ones. Scholarships based on performance may be an option. I reall dont know. Start doing research on various scholarships and organizations that provide them, who knows there may be one for dutch nationals studying art abroad. You really need to research that on your own i doubt anyone will be able to tell you. Google, and start making phonecalls.

I really don't know much about the states educational system but Canada I could help out with. Though when you say college is a bit confusing cause in Quebec I think of Cegep as College - so im assuming its university? Getting your bachlors etc..

To get into University in Ontario schools you would need the equivalent of there grade 12 - after which you can apply to any university of your liking there as an international student.

In Quebec it's a little more complicated because of language issues, i think you may have to take a french and english writing exam before getting in. (Ontario would just be english I believe). Unless you plan on going to a french university in Montreal then you'd have to be fluent in it.

Thats sort of a broad classification of how to get in, it all varies according to which program you want to go into and what prerequisites you need for them.

Once that's figured out then you can apply for scholarship - they all have scholarships you just need to find one that would apply for you.

I've rambled on for a while now but your best bet to figure that stuff out is to look at the university websites, most of them will have tons of information on scholarships and things you need to prepare as an international student aswell as phone number or email if you have questions.

Try contacting IBG-Groep. There are several options to study abroad. Most dutch uni's and hbo's also offer the possibility to take an internship abroad or even study abroad for a couple of years in some exchangeprograms. You can also contact the uni's cos of that, most of the time they have some funds for that, but you'll still be studying at their courses and get a degree that says you graduated in the Netherlands.

Also check belastingdienst. They might be nice and give you some discounts if you're abroad. A good one is also the ministeries of foreign affairs (click here (http://www.minbuza.nl/default.asp?CMS_ITEM=3DD12CD701DC4074A6A339BBEFF96 C8AX1X66577X25)), they usually have a special page online for this, as there are many people interested in studying abroad. Might wanna check the site of the specific country too, usually they have the same thing.

hmmmm well here in germany there are plenty of institutions who sponsor schollarships ONLY for the students who want to study in a foreign country, so it's pretty much like: "study in the states or you won't get our schollarship!!" . IMO it would be really strange if there weren't any institutions in the netherlands wich offer something like that. Just keep on searching, google is with you, young Jedi :D
