company listings

I have been sending e-mails and calling gaming companys looking for work or internship availabilitys. I have been searching for companys located fairly close to where I live. However since I live on the east cost the companies are few and far between.

The only resource aside from this site that I have used to find local companies is Gamasutra.com....they list upand coming gaming companies and or the big guys....but so far I have only found a few gaming companies and no visual effects companies.

I am trying to find an internship or job oppertunity for the fall.

I guess what I am asking anybody on this site who has any ideas of where I can find a listing, sort of an online directory of visual effects and gaming company addresses so that I can inqurie with them.

Check the International Game Developers Association (http://www.igda.org) website and then try to go to some meetings in a town near you. Where on the east coast are you located ?
You might also want to read relevant magazines on the industry such as Game Developer, etc.
As Deth Jester said, do a search on google and throw yourself at the studios. It's rewarding to really invest yourself if you ready for the journey.
