Open Canvas question

I recently tried to download Open Canvas but was unsuccessful, for some reason it wouldn't download. I assume at some point the problem will be fixed, so in the meantime my question is: What is OC better at doing (if anything) than say, Painter? I see a lot of great artwork posted on CA done in OC, and I am just curious as to what some of the best features of OC are.

It's just that I use PS and Painter, and of course we all know those are kick ass programs that each have their own strengths. So what does OC have to add?

Any information is much appreciated, hopefully I will be able to download the program soon and try it out.

I don't know about the new "Deleter" OC program (the one you have to pay for), but the old freeware was great for four primary reasons which PS/Painter have never had:

- It (was) FREE.
- It's SIMPLE and small. It's so tiny you can send the prog in an email, and it takes 5 mins to learn all the features.
- You can save a file to PLAYBACK all the strokes you made in the course of painting a piece.
- You can NETWORK with other artists a la Oekaki or Pchat, but privately and with 3 layers to yourself. You can also save these networks as playback files.

The point of OC was never to outdo PS/Painter in expansive features--it's a different type of program.
