hey man , kwl sketches one thing id suggest is doing some anatomy stuides and drawings fom ref( i shud take my own advice) also theres a photoshop thread on here that will be very helpful

Well, this is my first complete photoshop work. I see the hands seem not finished, but are the way I wanted them, maybe some chest details, but I think it's good. I've not only used ref, ive added it as a second texture to asecure the mesure...it's not a painting, I only practicedd colours, but I think its ok. Is the last extremoduro's cd frond cover.

Very cool concepts, mate. Yes, since you know that you need to study anatomy, then do it and nothing else! Maybe one or two concept pages, but do the anatomy like crazy. I am realising this with my art as well and now am doing more reference work than my own.

Once you get that form down you can't go wrong in the long run! Cheers. ;]

Ive been this week with anatomy but the only book I have at home is not too good, so, I'm searching for something better. I must have some Loomies ilustrations over here, Im searching for them.

Well, the body and the arms are better now, but they dont seem the same thing...:S

Well, I get very bored in classroom so the time I can't expend at home painting I do it in "class time". Most of them are random stuff but two of my teachers gestures.

The robot designs are suposed to be for a game I'm projecting with some friends (I'm the concept artist nowdays, I hate programming).

Envisor has given you a gold mine there - you should most definitely read through those books if you have not done so already. You need to do some geared up anatomy studies and gestural studies to better get a feel for the human form. You also need to develop your technique - pay attention to what you are doing when you are drawing a line. Too many artists starting out take lines for granted - they are the most powerful element of composition, so give them the attention they need. With your shading you need to get a better feel for you forms and lighting - currently your forms a little too flat.

I must say I really like the attitude you exude with your pen sketches - they are fearless and authoritative in a way. If you don't loose that as you go along, you may well one day possess the type of draftsmanship's mentler has.

Thanks for stopping by my book dude, hope this post was of some help to you. Keep drawing, this game has a lot to do with mileage :).

I gotta say that I have lots of problems to fix mesures when I copy, when I draw from life, you know. Photoshops helps, I can change every size, but that is not the damn way, I know.

I think from now on I'll dedicate one morning a week to go and draw my city, and the rest anatomy (I still need a lot)... and well to copy alex ross again and again...

Trying to copy some more. I bought a women-magazin for 1€ so I could have lots of references and I've been trying to copy some this evening. The only problem is I become silly very fast and I can't take much profit from all I do... but well... that's the saved works (I've erased some, like a damn badly monstrosity that was trying to be Shigeru Miyamoto).

I'm realising that I can only do the self-portraits well. When I try with a friend or another reference, I can't with it. I don't know if it's my face (simple shapes?) or what, but... you know... I'll keep painting and painting from reference. I think that I'm much more serious about practicing and anatomy since I bought the wacom, the only problem is I forgot the rest of my life and the pen or prencil drawing... I have to leave the computer for a while :p

Before you paint something in photoshop I find it works if you pick a palette.

Consider how light reflects off the subject and how the changes in hue work.

I'm trying to know how color works, I hardly work in color so I'm null with that. I don't know what is exactly a shade for every colour, or what's up with opaciry and all that stuff... a lot to study, a lot to learn, and so much energy to expend :D

looks like you are developing your digi skills nicely
one thing about your pencils, right now they are lacking in contrast which flattens em out, it might be the scans but i would suggest getting some dark darks in there along with some lights

I've been trying with some landscapes, well, the fact is that I tried with photos of a music group (group in the front and a wood at back) but I'm trying more and more, cause I want to work more with the back of paintings, the feeling of deep that I've never tried to.

I'm having as a ref the photo of a friend (Berserk's drummer) and I want to copy him first and then do the backgroung, a big wood....

The part on the top it's in the right direction, i'm sure, and there're a lot of good details on the head and the hair. May be he'll need more shoulders and hands are small too.

P.D.: I want one of me dressed as a blacker too! XD You'll probably anwer: bloody narcisist! yeah!

Ah! one more thing!, if I were you i'd keep the same space of bottom over the drummer because the look is stuck very high and it needs space.

So, in my opinion: don't modify the bottom, it's perfect, or may be I'd put the drummer more to the left, in order to give more space to the look.

Dwimordene: many thanks for the comment and the recommendations. I think you're totally right with the hands and shoulders, the only part I've really worked on is the head. And about the composition... there is no composition, I just started to copy the photo and I left the drawing that way. Many thanks again...

I like the cow idea, maybe more contrast is needed, but the composition looks nice. I think you should correct the contrast that you puts in your figures in relation to the backgrounds, make the differences bigger. You are doing a lot of work mashote!! Keep it up.

well, i have seen your works from 2006 and I see big progress man!
The grenade concept is cool, but it seems that can be improved with more volume, look at this grenade http://www.conceptart.org/?artist=SamBrown36# is too much realistic for your concept but you understand what I mean about the contrast (darker shadows and more blinn :)).

Hi everyone! I've been trully absente cause it's been 3 intense weeks of 2d traditional animation at school, terribly intense and on weekends I'm so tired I can't move and scan drawings, so for now I only have one.

Well, that's the last "design" I did. There's a associaton of "Devils" in Majorca, it's a little part of our culture. That culture it's about fire and party. Devils are a kind of mixture between actores and firemakers, we make people dance and scream with us, the demons. And that logo is for that association, made to regulate the other associations and the use of fire. This one was rejected, but it was fun for me to do.

The king sketch have a good rendering, but it have a "making popo" posture, that seems very unnatural, you have to think about foreshortening and the big mases for correcting easily that.

These are very nice characters, the only problem is with the hero, her face is too rigid and she's turning her head at an awkward angle. You can fix this by making turn at a more 3/4 angle, looking away from the viewer but not looking directly to the right. Hope this helps.

You said on my sb that you have problems with straight lines and vanishing points.

Both are things that need to be practiced. Vanishing points are actually really simple. It's just a matter of biting the bullet and doing it, being really anal-retentive about that part of the process.

As for straight lines, the line tool is your friend. The line tool and shift-clicking. Other than that, they're another thing that can be practiced.

Hi, everyone! I've been out for a month but I'm right back :)

Here you have my last work for school, I think it took like four weeks. Final work was done in about... 20 hours, in 2 days, allways late. It's been the biggest work I've done in all ways. I had to use an existing place - La Riera is a little river in the center of Palma, Mallorca - with its architecture and ambient, add people and a big monster that makes people go crazy. Happy with it at all.

Your pencil works are great and have a lot of looseness to them
but you have to work on form, especially in your digital paintings.
This really shows in the first 4 paintings in your update from May 14th.
There's either light or shadow and almost nothing in between. Large planes with solid color will never appear three-dimensional.
Also, pick a lightsource before you start shading and make sure all objects are consistent with this lightsource.

Two concepts for a friend's game idea. First kinda Cathedral of Magicians - pretty much inspired by the Reykjavyk cathedral - and second kinda norwegian town, next to the fjords.

This goes with the two characters, the little house in the forest and the desert temple. It's been funny :)

There's a tremendous leap of skill between your first post a year ago and now, i find that very exciting! Anatomy's still a bit wonky (Sagat's knee for example looks like someone treated it with an iron pîpe) and you can still work on keeping the values a bit closer together in the unreffed stuff, but overall nice pics, especially the traditional portraits.

I'm trying with mixed media (acrylic, watercolor, watercolor pencils, pastel, pencils...)... but I think finally I'll work with watercolor or watercolor pencills.

I like watercolor because of the intensity of the color, and the watercolor pencils, cause they're easy to use - and I use them, for the initial shapes, instead of using pencils - and then you can use water with them :)

Well, some new things.

For the portrait series I think I'll put maximum effort on the resemblance, it seems that the color comes on its own way, so I better put the energy in the shape. Here's the new one:

And, well, I have a lot of handmade sketches: studies from ref, lots of posemaniacs shapes and sketches, some colors... but, well, they're in my sketchbook. I'm putting some more effort on the anatomy those day. And if not today, nor tomorrow.. .next month will come the results :)
