Why dont I start my own selfportrait thread too !!!!!!



Here is my first one, well not exactly first I have done others but dont know where they are now so I start from a fresh :yawn:

Anyways I was inspired by previous thread where somebody was asking how to make ants marching line in a path and my brush settings were left at 150 spacings, I used those settings to do this with my huge mirror always as my buddy in my room, I used eraser to create my new blond lines !!!!

Thankyou Asoir, I thought also that the second one was quite succesful, Im not too happy about my own sideprofile but didnt want to start beautifying it either, it appears I need like several plastic surgery operations before I could look cheer up like Reese Witherspoon theehe ! face lift, eye lid, nose is way too pinocchioish now and without shape, its really really weird to be honest with you then I think jaw implant could also be a nice touch and DEFENATELY something to make these thin lips bigger, I look sooooo scandinavian and hating every inch of it, yes I know its not sexy to complain about the way you look all the time but dont know how to stop either, I have been watching too many make overs and I have come to the point of no return where I know any time I gather enough money I will reconstruct my face and f you right back for my fathers ugly genes, my mom is beautiful but I never received those features from her, God has not told me yet why !!!!


anyways, please I dont really want to hear again any stupid story about how we are beautiful and natural as we are born, everybody has their own preference and I m not walking out there pointing at peoples huge noses (trust me they are ...like....many...here in Britain and when I say huge I mean :ah: :au: :ag: :ae: ) so what I basicly mean is that I respect everybody as they choose to be, I might make a remark but Im comfortable with variety of things I see in the street, it could get boring if all looks like Pamela Andersson or David Hasselhoff and I dont even have any certain beauty ideal, what Im only interested is how to enhance few imperfections in my face that I really dont like at all thats all, is that still difficult to understand, I know some people just cant tolerate plastic surgeries at all.

They just insantly judges you that you lack personality or some very important humanistic features to be willing to change your face, we all have our own different goals in life some people spend all their moneys on travelling and broadening experienes some people are collectors of things some people do charity etc I want to invest this money on looking good :bashful: yap ! Thats how it is with me !

yes because I only pose with widely opened eyes, of course im not like ultimate pro in drawing so if there is some misproportions maybe I cant read it well

you sure know on which parts of your face you have to concentrate more it seems, and that makes the SP really look like SP.Now that is good.The fact you're trying differnt styles is very good too.Maybe showing some face pics with the SP close to them would help us to give you more useful crits.

Anyway, the second one is my fav, but some iris andpupils would make it even better ;)

the truth is tha the iris and pupil were not showing at all because I was always looking from that angle, Im not a cheater so I like painting things the way I see them, except for my eyes :} ( I admit I make them bigger)

Do you mean that you want me to use these photos for reference and paint them with Photoshop digitally, sorry for not yet understanding the massiveblack slang but yes here by the way you can see how the camera changes face colours, if I use mirror for ref or now this photos for ref we are going farhter and farther from the truth, besides every self respectable artist never paints form photographs this is my own personal motto anyways

Let me know if you meant that I might try painting them because of you but I totally shy away doing this because it feels again somehow cheating or something I dont really know then........

yeah, thats what he means.Painting from photos isn't "cheating", its just exercise.But remember not to use the color picker, just use your eyes.

Well, after seeing the pics, you draw your eyes waaaaay too big, and exaggerate some bit too much, like the nose or lips.Work on some other features, concentrate especially on the eyes, the cheeks and smile.

BTW, i agree with asoir about the whole "nutter" thing :D

The lines on the face like that one next to the nose, or under the eyes, you marked their location correctly, but its usually better not to represent them with such hard lines. For some reason they seem to add age : P

Its just my opinion, but I think in any case, its better to represent these creases later more with tones instead.

Also, you can include where some shadows may be in your drawing, especially cast shadows. You don't have to make them their actual tone, just indicate them lightly to know where they are at this stage, and later you can work their correct value, if you want to make a tonal study.

Rough lines are ok for rough sketches, try to clean them up if you're going for a cleaner sketch.

Well, hope this helps for something. I'm just a novice, so take all this with a pretty big grain of salt. You have nice studies, keep going! Remember to have fun.

I got somehow lazy with this one because its like 39 degrees hot and no airconditioner or its in the other room so my brains are melted or something, however this is really difficult facial expression to capture and now that there is visible photo the preassure is even more
