Topic: Peacetime Transport

Background: In an extremely unlikely, yet ideal future, there is no war. There is no large scale dissention between political parties, governments, or nations. There has been a significant paradigm shift which has lead to a cooperative global society focused on sustainable ecology.

New technology has enabled small scale duplication of raw materials through atom 'breeding' - meaning that many of the crises involving resource scares are no longer an issue, and production of material goods can continue as before.

In this secure peacetime, attentions are turned to quality of life. Within this is a greater appreciation by all people, of the power of beauty, and a greater understanding of aesthetics. This has led to a backwards shift in trends to older classical periods of decadence, decoration and art.

Brief:Your task is to design a vehicle of any kind (land, sea, air) for this new age. Technology is advanced, and so is an appreciation of classical design/art/methods. There is no need for any design to counterract aggression - the overwhelming majority of earths vehicles are now designed for luxury and pleasure.

To clarify, one example could be a car based on art deco. The period is roughly 50 years advanced - 2050 or so.

Have fun! Go nuts ;)

Deadline: Once again, a fortnight is about right i think.15 June.

reminds me of star trek when picard said "economics in the 24th century are a little different". and lulu (or was it lucy) said "you mean you don't get paid?"

Just a very quick WIP/sketch, I've become addicted to the Industrial Design of the Week, and after my failed initial attempt at domination ;), have returned to the fray!

Too long have we been promised flying cars, but now in the year 2056, well we still don't have flying cars but we do have anti-gravity hover car/boat/cruisers… The Classic Duesenberg Car Company of the early 20th Century 1913-1937, considered to be the height of opulence and luxury is revived to create luxury anti-gravity cruisers for the new socialites. The cruisers hover 3-10' off of the surface and can reach speeds of up to 200mph…. Not a lot of thought (well none actually) into this one just having some fun :)

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the posts from you guys…

An enormous airship, built to allow people to tour the entire world. A floating hotel to see the beauty of the earth from the sky.

Actually, I am thinking about a huge air-pleasure boat which takes some references to the 19century structure for monumental winter gardens and also "jardin à la française" you can find in Versailles landscape. Still thinking about the final image and to some details of the design like scale, propulsion which will be in those 4 circles and about all the structure which care this enormeous park. A lots of "clichés" mixed together in order to obtain this historic style. During the Renaissance, architecture took his references in ancient greec civilization so I presume in 2050 or 2100, we shall take some referencies in the 19 century :)) (sorry for my bad english, still not confortable with it for my descriptions)

goran - neat idea, the only thing that bothers me is the painted one. it looks odd. like you took the side view and tried to twist and make it look in perspective. i think it would work if your top view didn't show it being so wide.

ferak - i would like to see yours finished that is a really cool idea.

now i have some ideas of my own... i should get concepting now. good luck everyone

DT Motors presents the DT v16 Roadster, the ultimate luxury motorcar, new for 2050. Powered by a classic sixteen-cylinder gasoline driven engine, the DT Roadster delivers an incredibly smooth ride, and unprecedented horsepower. Its uniquely styled chaise is reminiscent of the halcyon days of automotive design, with distinctive details evoking the work of Art Deco era designers such as Walter Dorwin Teague and Raymond Loewy. Great concepts guys!

Here is mine,

Legend - luxury hover ship for long travels, something like future yacht. After invention of cheap antigravity power-engine, society go at next industrial evolution level. Everything became now more faster and easy, we started prosper like no before. We built huge hyper cities in short time, because antigravity invention helped everywhere. But bigest advance was in means of transport, we made a new era of hi-tech hoverships and antigravity vehicles.

rawwad... very nice. You seem to posess the illusive "sketchy" technique that its so critical for making sweetass looking ID sketches. My stuff is always kind of sloppy, I need to work on my speed while still keeping it tight. Nice work.

Sorry I'm late, I have been working on this a while. I've never used coloured pencils to colour before, so this is my first ever attempt (except when I was 5). Also, a bit dissapointed that it looks a bit like Chuck,Mate's, but oh well.

Any suggestions welcome.

Underwater tourism has boomed in the past few decades. People from all over the world come to marvel at the underwater animals, plants and coral. And these taxis provide the perfect yet subtle way to enjoy them.

ok, i resign from this comp. i have been far to influenced by the work that i have seen now, so whenever i try to start something new it doesnt seem original, that will teach me for looking at the competition page everyday.
