Yeap! Lets mix it up some!

Please note it doesnt need to be on a streetside in france (allthough thats an awesome idea! Something contemporary!) but it can also be like a cafe 300 years in the future on floor 568 with huge glass windows whatching cars fly by, some postapocalyptic underground bunker cantina :P ;) have fun with it its a loose topic :D

Scroll to the right, there is a sign hanging that says "Cafe", and they are sitting outside of it, seemingly talking, reading the paper, and drinking.

Not what I would have immediatly thought of by looking at the topic, but that makes it all the better in my eyes. Plus, it just kicks ass as a digital painting, very well designed, great custom brushes I see, nice texture, and I bet he did it in a fraction of the time it would take me to do - and I still wouldn't come close. Of course, I'm aiming to improve on that last part!

It's got a really crisp, refreshing atmosphere. Great work, I like the contrast of subject matter - very simple, low-key Cafe exterior with high tech machinery.

Although if I were the cafe owner I'd probably request they redirect the turret while dining there. hehe

This cafe is located on Mars, in a bout 140 years from now. It's a popular hang-out for couples, as privacy is provided, i.e. tables are far apart or even are located in seperate pods. The skylight allows visitors to enjoy the orange/red Martian sky during the day and a, usually very clear, view of the stars in the evening, all while sipping some imported coffee or enjoying the large variety of tea flavours. (Notice the "u" in flavours - this is no coincidence because on Mars, British English prevails. The first mayo(u)r of Mars City had a penchant for British English and made it policy. Thus "U"-keys of keyboards on Mars are often slightly less ledgible than the average keyboard on Earth. This is of course, because the more frequent usage of the "u" on Mars wears off the letter paint, which is still just paint, even in 140 years from now.

Tea, it must be said, is somewhat expensive on Mars, for obvious reasons. Coffee too I guess. Sucks to live on Mars.

Wait, no, it doesn't suck on Mars, because gravity is only one third and walking is so easy on the muscles, that - well, they tend to fade away. Which is bad I guess. Fitness centers are abundant on Mars to make up for this.

One more note about the cafe: It is art deco/50s style inspired and waitresses sometimes complain to their boss about the many stairs they have to take to bring people their coffee. Hot coffe and stairs of course equals trouble, but they get paid well and the cafe is pretty friggin' romantic! Check it out:

I live in a university town, the cafe is my office. They have a nice internet connection and bottomless cups of coffee. Actual drawing from actual life isn't against the rules..is it?

Hi everyone. thought id give this one a go aswell, and this time i put some more time into it. Hopefully it shows.
Really cool stuff so far here. I like all the pictures ive seen. Nice future feel them. And the one with the giant robowalker is great. Like the mood in that alot. And also the simple description of the people in the cafe in mars works great.

Anyways here mine.

Somewhere in the french mountains lies the fanciest cafe the world has to offer. Built by the richest man alive, with prices are soooo off the wall that none have ever been able to afford even the smallest cup of cofee. So the waiter just stands there waiting, for better times to come.

Really great work in this thread. This is my first time participating and I hope to be able to crank out some good work considering school is out :teeth:. Setting my crap enviro aside, I'll comment on the others.

AndrewLey- Great! as usual. Quick, effective, strokes. You show the most confidence in this forum for sure. Nice work. Interesting brush strokes.Overall, great.

Dragon4Lunch- Nice work. Did you consider some color? The elipses are dead on. Some minor perspective issues around the fish tank but not too noticeable. EXCELLENT LIGHTING. My only gripe is you have elements in the background that heavily compete with the waitress in the foreground. Try uping the contrast on her or darkening the background a bit.

chaosrocks- Good perspective. Keep working on your elipses on the cup. Try using heavier line weight in darker areas. Keep working hard and post as much as possible!

silliKONe- Excellent! Good color, good concept. One small idea is maybe making some darker object around the bridge or close to the distance of the bridge such as a spaceship or something to push the depth even further. Great work.

stewart one- Excellent perspective, great concept (my favorite this week). The lighting seems a little strange because there are very few shadows to lead the eye into the believability. Also the texture on the ground seems strange. But otherwise good concept.

Zeitwolf- Good concept. Really push the darks and lights in your work. Good start. Dont be afraid to illustrate good ideas.

Nice work everyone. :xpld:

I just got back from a convention and noticed that this is still the current E.O.W and since its not dead yet I thought I would just share what I had done since it was my very first Enviro drawing. If this stays open long enough and time allows I might be able to finish it.

speculart - i like this a lot. love the guard & small details in the foreground - how they offset the distant cafe. it has a nice sense of scale. one comment - maybe if you could nudge the guard a leeeetle to the left (or add space on the right of the guard), and possibly add a tiny amount of breathing room to the path where it comes close to the bottom of the frame. everything else works beautifully.
