Each of the four matches will take about 1 month to a month and a half, with a week or two for judging (lots of contestants, lots of battles to judge, lots of talented judge's schedules to accomodate) in between each round. You'll find that you can most likely squeeze out a nice piece of art in that amount of time.

1. Strych9ine said he's gonna be tied up for a bit before this actually starts, so there's a bit of time.

2. We've already gotten over 225 participant in just two(?) days.

3. We need to preserve the four levels and their mathematical breaks.

So...

Does anyone think we can get 270 people?

This would give us 90 x 3 in the first round, 30 x 3 in the second round, 6 x 5 in the third round, and still one allout five to the death for the final round.

270 is only 45 more people than we needed originally...any thoughts?


Edit: I just did a really rough count and we have 9(?) people in reserve. That means we need only another 36 to make my idea work.

Actually, Dave, it could work either way. I figured the thrid grouping would be five teams of six, leaving five finalists, but it could also be six teams of five, leaving six finalists.

I thought about this after bk_studio brought it up to me. Normally, a contest like this widdles the field down to less and less contestants through less and less eliminations. While this works for tv, I don't think it works here.

The idea of this dome is to get everyone involved and make the most art possible. The more people we eliminate right off the bat, the less people particpating later in the contest. I want the interest to stay high for this puppy, with more participation and productivity than ever. This is why I'm not starting off with a huge elimination.

Also, think about this. Say we do 5 man matches first round. Than suppose that randomly 5 of our most talented contenders get pooled together. Only one can come out on top. I think that by doing 3 way matches initially in the first two rounds we will insure that the people who really deserve to be here later on are.

Hope that makes sense.
