Hey there

Two weeks or so ago, I installed Corel Painter 9, and ran it without problems. I worked on several sketches and now moved on to a real project. Since my time is rather limited, I worked several hours on it, spread out over a couple of days, without any problems.

Then yesterday suddenly problems started to show up. Corel Painter closed down all of the sudden. I opened the program again, asuming I clicked on the wrong button or something, and when I started again, it closed down again, and continued this way. I rebooted the computer, and the same problem occured. I even ran setup again, repaired the program, and it still occured.

Can someone tell me how to fix this, or get over this program?

Technical details:
- Platform: Windows XP
- Version: Corel Painter 9
- Problem occured with my wacom tablet, repeated when done with mouse
- Used brush at that moment: a custom made waterpaint brush, which worked fine for at least 4 days before of that.

If there are other things that are need to be known, just say so and I'll answer if I'm possible \:teeth:

Regards,

Nehallenia

Have you tried reseting Painter to it's default settings?

To reset your user settings to the factory default, hold down the Shift key while starting the application. A prompt will appear asking you to confirm that you want to restore the default settings. Click Yes. Please note that your customized user settings will be lost as a result.

I had a similar problem a while ago except in my case Painter would shut down whenever I try to click on the Eraser brush.

Here's the thread I posted. Hopefully it will help you as well.

"Painter Poof" strikes again! You're not alone. Save often.

More practical advice, update to version IX.5. Go to corel's site and follow the instructions. Update your tablet's drivers if you haven't done so lately.

I usually save in PSD and often get a crash, but not so with the update. Still, I save incrementally just in case. Got the Painter Poof Paranoia :$

Furthermore...were you trying to open the same poofed file. 'Cuz it's already corrupted if you can't open it.
