ive been working on this piece today and i think ive been looking at it too long, so i need your input on it. thanks guys

I think you should try to paint the face a little looser, I like how the rest of the piece is painted, if you approach the face in a similar manner, I think it will harmonize the image somewhat...have a look at Craig Mullins stuff (if you haven't already), for a good, loose style at http://www.goodbrush.com

but if you intend to have that level of detail i think its looking good i notice the nose being a
bit too dark it kinda dominates the face. the proportions look good tho :)

CONTRAST! contrasting colors always make for a good focal point. You clearly want her to be the focal point so contrast the warm skin tones with a cool background. and like the dude before me said loosen up the face a little as well as vary the amount of highlights and shadows they need not blend together so much. They should contrast each other as well.
