Animated Avatars?

"I May Not" upload animated avatars apparently, yet, i see the frequently. Might anyone be able to give some hints as to how to upload a gif? or do you have to change the file extension to something? Thanks in advance! :D.

it might be due to your file size. I can't remember what the limit is. Just optimise your gif properly and bingo.

AFAIK it's just a matter of filesize. Are you sure your gif isn't too big?


Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

i made it 80 x 80, and the file size is like, 2.9k.... WAH! thanks for the hasty responses. :D.

The problem is you have to reach a certain amount of awesomeness first, then one of the 1337s:android: :donk: will bestow you with the power of animated avatars. i have yet to reach this level of awesomeness :(

Sorry for defibrillating this thread, but I also can't seem to get my dancing Dr.Breen up. I tried with a 93byte (extremely small) 1px X 1px animation, but still to no avail. Admins? Please?

Ok, I know that an avatar picture is nice and good for easy identification of members on a forum. But don't you have other problems than them being animated?
IIRC the admins are working on getting the site and forum to be more stable (and adding some good features). Just ask yourself this one question: "Do I need the animated avatar to create my indentity in this little part of the internet?"

And yeah, optimize your gif; be conservative and get it down to 2.0 if you can.

I tried using Slash's MY HERO! Avatar, when he beat Steinmetz in that thunderdome awhile back. Wouldn't let me.. I did some searches and I think that the latest publish of the forum software (Ezboard or something).. turned off uploading animated avatars in the patch.

From what I recall reading when I tried, a forum "upgrade" killed off animated avatars, all thos who uploaded before the update got to keep theres ><!!!!!
