Ok. Its a green alien being hunted by robots. That big red line is a laser aimer system lol I know lame. 30minutes. I'm only going to do quicker sketches until I get my scanner so I can show some marker sketches or whatever. Here it is my Prey (http://samurai-pete-studios.50megs.com/images/huntedness.jpg)

This is way to simple to have taken me so long. But I couldn't get the little hunted guys to match with the creature, which I made in like 5 minutes. Oh well.

I did two pics, both pencil. Sorry about the quality, I used a digital camera and couldn't fix them up particularly well in PS.

The second one was partly inspired by one of the trailers for wc3, the one with the raven.

MadMaxMan> Here's a PO where I did the things I said in chat. Put contrast (Highlights) on the teeth and darken the corpse. Those parts are the focus points I think, even if they are located near the edges of the canvas.
I Greyscaled it cuz I saw no need to have red.

i actually prefer madmaxmans composition....prom you showed him how to pull for focus yes...but in yours it is such a quick read to the monster that i dont even immediately see the content of the piece which is actually "the devouring"....for it to read in a more balanced way then you would want a secondary focus near the guys head or on his body somewhere...that way its not just a vacuum to one focal area....one can use secondary and tertiary focal areas if you want to tell a visual story and also pull the eye around and INTO the canvas.
I like the red...
nice work everyone...bloodstone..colors are looking great.

woah! first of all thanx a lot Prom for your PO you dont know how much i appreciate it, i see you fixed the mouth, not only adding highlights to the top teeth but also making them much clear to read: i tried to put too much randomness on them and this messed the whole thing. Second, i like the black you added in the corpse but maybe i agree with Jason (thx for the feedback) that the monster is focusing all the attention now, maybe adding some highlights in the corpse head would solve this? i dont know.. i cant decide on getting red out or not, all i can say is i like the greyscale version...

Manley> I'm not very good at composition but MMM wanted me to crit so I gave it a shot. I tried to put some more focus on the corps by making it a bit darker, thus makin the silhuette stronger. I guess it can't compete with the face being so strong though. And I probably overestimated how well a human silhuette reads from the side.
I tried rendering the focuspoints (nasty teeth and corpse) with more contrasted values. MMM kept his quite grey so I felt that I could afford pushing the black and whites a little.
I also cleaned up the details a bit, perhaps too much. The teeth got a bit boring.
I know red can be used as an unique component to attract the eye, but MMM made it quite unsaturated and I felt that I could remove it rather than making it clean decorative red.

Here's another one where I removed some focus of the head and amped up the corpse a bit. I aslo added to the canvas left side so the corpse ended up more central. I also made a BG to fill the empty space up left. Better/Worse?

i think the way you outlined the head works great to show the figure, but the background style doesn't completely match the figures so it doesn't blend too well
great dsg guys!

yep, you made it again prom, i like the BG and the 'internal organs' (is that the word?) now i think the 'devouring' that pointed Jason is more readable with them. thx indeed
