Round #010

Topic:
well heres whats going on, this topic is linked to the current chow, so its real descriptive and has the same story, just the eow will be drawing diffrent aspects of it, namely the environments instead of the characters.

Timmy’s world has been destroyed.

Timmy won the world wide competition for the much coveted trip to Santa’s Workshop. His entry, like the billions of other entries from the world over, was why he wanted peace on earth, what he’d do if he were the President of the United Nations, and why wired hair dachshunds are the best dogs in the world.

Upon arriving at the North Pole, Timmy found that “Santa’s Workshop” was, in fact, an industrial wasteland of name brand products being mass produced by megalithic multinational merchandising subsidiary companies handed no-bid contracts by Santa, Inc. Items "crafted" in Santa’s sweatshops hadn’t seen native workers in years, the workforce having either been imported from warmer regions or, in most cases simply outsourced. The native elf population was all but forgotten, disenfranchised and living in hovels, getting drunk on eggnog and selling black market “candy” canes just to survive on the seedier edges society. Santa’s Village, the sprawling metropolis of loose morals, iffy ethics, high prices, and merrily twinkling Christmas lights, loomed over all.

Santa had sold out.
--------
Chose one, or two of the environments to do :)
Santa's Workshop (industrial wasteland of namebrand marketing)
Santa's Village (seedy, loose morals, ify ethics, high prices, and twinkling christmas lights)

Congratulations to the winner of Round 8 (The Windy City) - Hideyoshi

Enjoy :)

No. Two different illustrations, but both focusing on the same storyline.

Hell, it better be a flippin party town! I mean, it's "Santas village" He's only the biggest pimp that's ever existed...litteraly! Makes sense he's a corrupted slime bag... bastard never ate my home made cookies... they weren't burned, they were tanned!

I'm pretty sure you can submit traditional pieces if you'd like. Send Red Rook a PM if you want to be certain.

hey, ryan. Yeah, they can be anything. Most people tend to do digital though. Glad to see you join the party.

Not sure if I'll have time this week to crank out a decent idea. So happy holidays to you all. good luck.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll have time to put an EOW entry in this week, although, I'll definitely try. :)

Merry X-mas to all who celebrate it! The rest, may your holidays be happy enough, but not so happy that they depress you once they are done... Like a fantastic dream from which you wake and realize reality sucks.
Always been a nightmare kind of guy myself, for this specific reason.

That's a sweet pic, rasdasa. I think you could boost the color and value range of the lights, but I really like the santa and the dead reindeer. Also, maybe you could find a way with your values to clarify the upper portions of the architecture. Might be just my screen, but it all seems just a little too dark. But very nicely done.

Hey Auden, much thanks for the crits. I was actually thiniking of going back into it and clearing up and clarifying the background a little more, but I'm on to some other crap right now. As for the color, something else I'll try if you dive back into it. Still though, thanks for the crits , I really appreciate it.

*watches the tumbleweed bounce by*

I really think that the linked contests could be fun and interesting and could get alot of playing off each other's work. However, I'm sure the holiday season is why this thread was dry this time around...:[
