I usually use Painter, sometimes Photoshop and sometimes OpenCanvas... I like all three programs, but there's one thing i can't stand about Photoshop.
That is when for example i'm at 50% of a pic @ 1024x768pxls. And i use the Hand-tool (space) to move around and zoom in on different parts of the pic, since some of the palettes are obscuring the picture. In OpenCanvas and Painter it's possible to move around exactly like i want to.
But in Photoshop, it's locked.
I'm very certain that it's possible to fix/change this, cause here at school our computers have Photoshop CS2 and when i tried it one of the first times -on one computer- it worked exactly the way it works in Painter and OC. But on the computer next to this one the canvas was locked.

Anyone have any ideas of how to change this option or what the cause might be? (those settings with locked canvas seems to have been set as default by the comp-technicians on all computers so i can't check it myself)

Thanks!

It's like that on all the versions prior to CS. you can hit tab to get rid of the pallets and "f" for full screen but what I've always had to do when working on the edges is to just make the window small enough that it is not behind the pallets. I'm glad it's fixed on the new versions though.

That's strange, cause on school (PCS2) it's locked, but it once was the Painter-esque way. Which must mean there's a setting somewhere. (Maybe I'll find it if I play around in Regedit?) ;P

Are you sure that it's locked? because it can only be moved around while it's in full screen mode (f), I've never seen it locked on CS. I don't think it's a matter of being locked or unlocked, I think it is just a function that did not exist before CS.

Hey it worked! (during fullscreen i mean) I could'nt check it before cause i was at home and didn't have a Photohop to test it on. So, THANKS! :^^:

Yup, you gotta go to one of the full-screen modes. Either of the two will work, but I prefer the first one since the menus are still visible.

Something to be careful of--if you press the Actual Pixels or Print Size buttons on the top bar while the Zoom tool is active, pressing SPACE will stop working. Always right-click if you want to press either of those buttons.
