[ Perhaps this takes place in some alternate future that doesn't include neural wi-fi. ]

[ Coaxial cables... copper wiring... ribbed tubing... fat chunky rubber plugs... ]

[ Think Ghost in the Shell (http://www.animecutie.com/pictures/ghost-in-the-shell-wallpaper-01.jpg). ]

Despite the predections of military aviationists, manned jet fighters are still proving superior in the Combat arenas, especially with advances in pilot/aircraft interface.

Face masks? We don't need no stinkin' face masks!

I'm surprised that these aren't, on the whole, more cluttered. (so far)

Ok, I lost track of how many hours I spent on this... only that I started early and ended late.

http://www.entervault.net/an8forum/npb_dsg_954.jpg

Backstory: "In the year 2052 a new breed of pilot is born. Made from mixing a potent cocktail of human and rat genes these transgenic pilots have no will of their own, have no need for sleep, and fear no enemy. Consequently, they have no reason to leave their aircraft and, instead, the military has opted to develop a complex life support system to maintain them right in their pilot's seat throughout their operational lifetime. Sadly, [sic] that lifetime is severely limited due to the Kamikaze style aerial tatics employed by these pilots."

Phaethon: Looks like we came up with similiar concepts! I had just laid down the last of my pencils, when I came by the forum and checked the thread. Needless to say, I chuckled when I saw that you had just posted your image. Probably not the first time that has happened here, but the timing was a pretty interesting coincidence.
