Hi, I am trying to break into the industry as a freelance artist and illustrator. I would idealy like to be doing concept art, illustration and traditional art commisions. I know that I will need to do other things at first to get started but am finding it very difficult to get anywhere. However I havent been doing this for very long so I don't expect instant results.
If anyone out there has any advice for getting work, places to look for work or any other advice on working as a freelance I would really apprieciate the help.
Thank you in advance.

I'll just give a couple pointers someone gave me ...
One bit is to get a simple website up to show your stuff. My website's about as simple as I could make it, but it works in showing off your works and getting people's attention.
After the website's up, get as much traffic as you can to the website. these bbs are a good way of doing it.
After that, just hound all the different job boards that you know of and keep submitting your resumes.
here's a few:

http://gingerbox.spiteshow.com/
http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/
http://forum.rpg.net/
http://www.gmpixel.com/
That's at least the ones I keep a look at. Eventually you'll find some commissions.
That's about all the advice I've been given as far as freelancing is concerned.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice butcher. I havent set up a website yet so I will have to do that. Do you know of any good hosts for the site?
Thanks for that list of forums as well. They look very useful, I will keep an eye on all of them.
Thanks again for your advice.
