Hello,
My group is in need of a concept artist for a game we're developing as a hobby. I posted an ad in the non-paying job section (we're in it just for fun after all, so cannot pay) but got very few views and no responses.
Could anyone give any advice on recruiting artists? I'm obviously going about it the wrong way. We have a great game concept and a dedicated team, the trick is getting people to even take a look at us I think...

Hello Kris,
A lot of people on this site are professionals, and the chances of having a pro artist picking up an unpaid project are very, very slim.
I see you've only made two posts on this forum which means that hardly anyone knows of you over here. So when a stranger asks you to spend quite a lot of time to produce photo-realistic artwork, it doesn't look particularly enticing. The way I see it, usually such projects are organised among a group of people who know each other and everyone has an equal say in regards to the direction the project takes.
The thing is, there are countless projects like this. No offence intended. Some actually have a complete product to show for the time spent, while the vast majority does not. Which also reduces the chances of finding someone who’d be interested.
I wish you good luck with both your project and search, and hope I have shed some light upon the lack of response to your thread.

You could try over at Gamasutra.com, or at Garagegames.

Thanks for the replies. Basicly we're not looking for pros, we're looking for other people who enjoy making game art as a hobby. I only posted here because members of the team recommended the site. >.< I guess I'll try again when we have a little more to show for ourselves lol.
