hey there, i'm a new member. Hi.

Since i've been annoyed at how slow i'm progressing, i thought i could use some outside views on my stuff, and maybe get some helpfull criticism in the process.
I hope it's okay that not all of this comes from a sketchbook, but that some things are also speedpaintings and work in progress.

First off, here are two of my old sketchbooks (old meaning that i scanned them in a while ago. i've worked in them since, and i'll scan that in soon)

This is something i did for school:

An image i did in class, done for an assignment for another forum.

Done as a test of style, to see if my teacher liked the direction. He did not.
I ended up going with a very minimalistic black-and-white sort of thing

Another schoolassignment. very sketchy stuff, so it fits the topic, i suppose:

A brushtest in Photoshop

And i just had to put this one in, i made it when i was bored:

i've also been focusing on 3D (much more than drawing, to my shame), but this isn't really the place to show that :)

am i doing something wrong in posting, or is it merely because of the large number of threads in this subforum that this oen's being overlooked? if i'm doing something wrong, or i could be doing it better, be sure to tell me.

Don't worry too much about the lack of responses. My personal take is that it is easier to receive feedback when you have specific goals and ask for help reaching those goals. When I look at your sketches I see a lot of imagination but I'm not sure which direction you want to go in so I can't comment much.

It seems that most if not all of your drawings come from you mind, try drawing from life to get a better feel for proportions and light and shade.

Keep it up

I like it, a lot of your drawings have a style about them like those you find in scientific journals.

As charcoalArtist said makesure you get a grounding in drawing from ref or life if possible, it really helps even with stylised work.

i'm drawing from life every now and then, and more and more lately, but you can't tell me that my work can't be critiqued unless i post drawings of models...
I fully realise drawing from life will help me, but is there nothing else you can comment on? shading, lineweight, maybe some stylistic issues?
i'll try and keep my sketches on more or less the same subject, so you can see what i'm trying to improve, i suppose that's a good tip, thanks...

I really like the stylised look of your work, of course of of the sketchier ones could have cleaner linework, but this is a sketchbooks so its all kosher.

Also, its probably a little slower because its over the weekend, people (normal people) go out and have a good time and stuff, people like me..stay at home and study anatomy and jerk off to scat porn =(

For the style you are going for, I'd say it looks very good, but as an artist, I'd definitely recommend branching out into other studies as well, a well rounded knowledge of many styles is imo essential to excel.

Good luck, m.
