View Full Version : Tish *edit* and now Gomez!
July 6th, 2005, 04:09 AM
Morticia Addams. Bit of an experiment really. Photoshop 6, yesterday... I think I might do Gomez next...
Crits very welcome! :)
"Gomez, last night - you were unhinged. You were like some desperate, howling demon. You frightened me. - Do it again!"
And now Gomez... Think I might edit it and put 'Thing' in with him. Gomez's trusty right hand!
"You'll meet someone. Someone very special. Someone who won't press charges."

"Cara mia!" :D
July 6th, 2005, 04:22 AM
Woohoo!! I'm so glad you posted this... it's absolutely brilliant!! I LoVE it!!
It's got a real 50s feel... whilst being frightfully modern at the same time. Splendid!
And i can't wait to see the rest of the family....
July 6th, 2005, 04:51 AM
looks vanderful, almost makes me wanna pull up her sleeve and kiss down her arm :P
July 6th, 2005, 06:22 AM
Very nice mate! Will you be doing the whole family?
July 6th, 2005, 07:56 AM
this rocks! I can't crit...
July 6th, 2005, 08:14 AM
crackin stuff Aly, expression is great
July 6th, 2005, 09:33 AM
your so talented!
July 6th, 2005, 10:20 AM
Nice style, reminds me a bit of Tim Burton's work. Exellent :^^:
July 6th, 2005, 11:10 AM
very cool - I love how the curls on her hair echo the bottom of the dress
if i had one crit it would be that due to the stylized look and elongated limbs...her calves could be longer. At least from where i think the knees are slightly bent.
July 6th, 2005, 11:23 AM
I like her dress, and hands.
July 6th, 2005, 01:15 PM
my only crit is to make her more pale. love the heart shaped dress opening.
July 6th, 2005, 01:41 PM
I particuarly like the heart-cut and her entirely well-done hands. I'm not crazy about the choppiness of the light effects in the bg, but it's really a fantastic piece. Great work.
July 6th, 2005, 01:45 PM
Wow...awesome man, a bit different from your normal stuff. Very, very cool.
July 6th, 2005, 01:48 PM
Beautiful work Bro. Love the face, the mood (color scheme), and the pose. Great experiment, catchy style, more please! :D
Doug, stop it! I saw it first!
July 6th, 2005, 04:41 PM
Heh, groovy idea. Hands are a bit big and bony, though.
Only other thing, though, is that the pic seems to be lacking in depth. I know this is heavily stylised, however, so it may be intentional (that said, it's the same deal with your UK\US TD pic, though that isn't so stylised).
July 6th, 2005, 05:49 PM
Thankyou very much for the unexpected response to this piece. I wasn't even sure about posting it, and was just going to hide it somewhere on my website. Thank Duddlebug for pushing me! But when I'd finished it I decided to do the whole family and just see what happened.
I don't know whether Morticia would smoke, but decided if she did she'd certainly have a cigarette holder and look damn cool using it! As she always would... I love that line from the second movie: "Gomez, I'm going to have a baby... right now!" Gomez is going to be a bit more John Astin than Raul Julia, but the two guys were both perfectly cast in their own ways.
Cheers again! :)

I love the characters and am a big fan of the movie. I dig the graphic style with the small spirals. One crit is that her chest (from the clavacle to the brests) seems rather flat in contrast to the rest of the piece. I think you might need to drop the center point of the clavacle down a little bit because I think it is riding a bit too high. It was just something that caught my eye.
Can't wait to see Gomez
July 6th, 2005, 10:19 PM
very nice, her finger outstretched holding the cigarette holder seems a little long, but she seems as though she would be the one to have extra long fingers. very very nice poece non the less :)
July 7th, 2005, 06:29 PM
Morticia... Now with extra added Gomez! Not quite as stylised, but i tried to capture that manic enthusiasm he always has.
Good crits on Morticia... thankyou. I'm going to edit her slightly flat chest, the length of the calves and her hands.
Fester next... :) Then Wednesday, Pugsley, Cousin It, Granny and Lurch!

aww Posh these are Great. Really diggin Tish, the colours and the dress are awesome, Im thinking her pose looks juss sliightly uncomfortable, like her upper body is angled juss a bit too far to the left for it to look illuring, but its pretty close to be honest, hee i looove her sleeves.
Gomez is exaaactly how i thought he would look, just as I was expecting to see him and could be recognised just from that brilliantly rendered suit there, all I would like to see is maybe darker around his eyes? Ar first I thought it was his nise that maybe needed to be bigger, but i think juss some darkening around his sockets would really push his features.
Anyway, I cant wait for Fester!!
July 7th, 2005, 07:37 PM
awesome work man! great designs.
July 7th, 2005, 07:47 PM
I like them. Just wondering what they might look like if you nudged the levels a little bit, like with the sundae girl. I think it might add some depth immediately. But it could just be my monitor...
July 8th, 2005, 01:21 AM
Wow, those look great! I like your cartooning style - very classic :) I think the addition of Thing is a definite must. Why stop here? What about Wednesday and Pugsly? :)
July 8th, 2005, 01:22 AM
Oops, didn't read your follow up replies :P Can't wait to see the rest of the family :)
July 8th, 2005, 01:28 AM
Those look greate, cant wait to see pugsley (SP?)
July 8th, 2005, 01:36 AM
Brill. Gomez is fantastico.
July 8th, 2005, 03:34 AM
Gomez is just great!! The rendering on the suit is perfect... nice folds too. And i like the lopsided grin.
I am dying to see the rest of the family.
Stonkin' work, Aly...
July 8th, 2005, 05:09 AM
I like a lot your new style ; this last pict is my favourite from you (though the background could be cleaned a bit more).
July 8th, 2005, 05:16 AM
great work again-but still...might only be me,but i think they are both abit too "happy fluffy" for addams. if you look at the original pictures by him (chas addams) you'll see that gomez is alot more sinister-but i think darkening the eye sockets should do the trick. definately add "thing"! can't wait for the rest.
July 8th, 2005, 05:22 AM
My only minor objection is to the reflective light on Morticia's hair. I'd back off of the yellowish glow of it. It almost makes her seem like a brunette as opposed to the traditional jet black hair.
And John Astin would absolutely flip out over the Gomez. The figure rocks!
July 8th, 2005, 09:32 AM
Great stuff! Oh boy, do I hope you'll continue with the rest of 'em... like... Uncle Fester!
July 8th, 2005, 09:57 AM
Great work, as usual :)
Morticia is haaaaaaaaawt.
July 8th, 2005, 10:05 AM
I wasn't a huge fan of this show or the movie but these look great! Nifty cartoon versions of the characters. A good mixture of realism and simplicity.
I like how you didn't base them on any particular person.
July 8th, 2005, 11:32 AM
Very sleek. Kudos! I think Gomez would do real well with the Thing, and I'm waiting for Fester. :)
July 8th, 2005, 11:36 AM
Golly... cheers! There is a bit of John Astin in Gomez though, and I'm going to do Wednesday a bit like Christina Ricci, but a Mark Ryden version of her, as she was sooo perfectly cast! Lisa Loring was cool too... I didn't mean to do them all... it's just kind of happened.
July 8th, 2005, 11:49 AM
I realize I'm the 100th person to say it, but I love that you're experimenting with styles, Posh. These are wonderful.
July 8th, 2005, 12:22 PM
Posh, these are great... Gomez has a particular charm to him.
November 21st, 2005, 07:41 AM
i`d consider it a personal favor if you`d oblige me and make
an "Uncle Fester" piece.
common....you know you WANT to...
November 21st, 2005, 07:47 AM
Flippin' 'eck this is an old one!
Cheers Chuck Mate! Actually Uncle Fester was well under way when I got distracted by the Thunderdome and other stuff. I will finish it off....
