I made a lounge thread that I thought would be cool and funny and someone removed it without so much as a message? Is this how its going to be? It was in the Lounge, where "anything" goes. I understand if there's a disagreement or whatever but let me know.
Is this eatpoo all over again? :yayca:

The thing that annoys me when someone deletes a thread is if they hard delete it, meaning that the thread just disappears ("soft deleted" threads will disappear for normal users too, but we get to see them). As admin it is useful to see which threads have been deleted and why. Perhaps I should make it impossible to hard delete threads. heh heh heh :confident
As for anything goes...of course it doesn't. That would be like an open invitation for all kinds of sick and weird people. Stupid or possibly offensive stuff gets deleted.

fair enough - it's the admin's right to do just that. however, when stuff just gets deleted and no explanation is given, noone learns anything. if the thread's creator was notified that his thread was deleted and why, there would be less work for the admins in the future, as the users would LEARN what is and what is not acceptable to post.
aside from that, i think it's pretty disrespectful to just delete a thread with no notification and no reason. obviously, this is Mr. Manley's site and he can run it any way he pleases, but this has come up several times recently, and it seems that people are unhappy with the way their threads are simply dissappearing.
maybe it would be possible to automagically notify the person who started a thread when it's deleted? possibly there could be a simple text box that comes up when an admin deletes a thread so they can quickly type an explanation that gets sent to the thread's creator. there doesn't have to be a whole lot of overhead...

well, I dont really care.. it wasn't sick or twisted.. it was actually pretty dumb! But it might have been funny with a little refinement. What worries me is what tone it sets for any kind of new thread someone wants to try. And the fact that noone let me know they were deciding to delete it. You get that ill feeling like getting a parking ticket.
There's alot of admins now, way more than a year or so ago. And with so many good admins it increases the chance of a few abusers. And that would suck.
Im not complaining, just concerned. Good luck with managing this crazy place!
