Dang, Nate, I was asleep on the job  . I put out a notice much earlier when this section was opened. I am in Lewiston, where are you at? If you are close, there are some coffeeshops or bars that are in the area and sufficient for sketching purposes.

Hey Bat,
I'm up north in the Couer d' Alene area, but not to far away. Are you ever up this way? Maybe I can come down your way sometime. I'm kind of crutched for time and money right now :dead: . My sister lived down in Genisee (i'm sure that's spelled wrong), so I'm some-what familier with Moscow/Lewiston area.
I check the threads at least once a week, so I'll get back to you.
At least some-one else is out there. Thank God!

I am sure we can find a place to sketch, I will be heading up that way to hit Spokane Art Supply and to take some pictures in Couer d' Alene before too long. I just up there a couple of weeks ago, driving through the thick as pea soup fog on the treacherous highway for miles and miles. I will buy all of the sketch stuff, by the way; I posted in my previous thread that a local store gives me an awesome deal on sketchbooks and pens/pencils and that I would supply the sketch materials for any local sketchgroups. You may be as local as it gets. I am glad you are not in Boise, Couer d' Alene isn't that far away. We'll finally get Idaho on the ConceptArt map! >:D

Is it Steve?
Right-on man. I'd love to meet up with you. I was kind of surprised I got a response that fast. I was down at the work shop in SanFran and on the last day Jason Manley was speaking about how sometimes you have to move to where the market is. Then he says (in so many words) "You have no hope if you live in Montana, or Idaho!!!!!" :nohope:. I laughed out loud and everyone looked at me. it was just sad. I had some people come up to me afterwards and give their condolences. Anyhow, my wife and I actually live in Post Falls, which I'm sure you know where that is (in between Cda and Spokane). Just let me know when the next time you're coming up this way.
It's good to know there's some one else out there. We're a rare breed.
PS, do people really think you're a vampire? >:D :dead:

Yes, Steve it is. Now, while this Manley fellow seems to think that living in a metropolis is where it is at, I would disagree. This very medium breaks down distance barriers. A website portfolio is often all you need to begin negotiations for a paying art gig. There are no locations with a disadvantage, what good does living in Seattle do you if there are more art jobs in Los Angeles? If anything, we have the advantage on several levels:

1) It is generally quieter out in the sticks, which means less interruptions.
2) It costs much less to live, which is more money one can save to travel.
3) There isn't much to do but drink, no fancy plays or orchestras, therefore you can save more money for either #2 or more art supplies.

In other words; okay, Jason Manley is right, we live out in the middle of nowhere, but we can try to turn the negatives into positives and make the best of it. However, people gave you their condolensces? Why? You made it there, right? Living in California doesn't make a person anymore hip than living in Idaho. If anything, having been there, I would rather be here. Clean air, less violence, people are more down to earth and I have more time to do the things I want to do.

And yes, people do think I am a vampire, I think my girlfriend of 8 years is starting to realize I am not, but she is from Spain and they are still a bit superstitous there as well. I will let you know next time I head up so that you are warned well in advance and I will bring the sketch material, you pick the spot. Deal?

Hey Guys,
It's good to see people posting in here. It make me feel all warm and tingley :bashful: . I've been pretty busy up this way, getting into my sketchbook about every other day. I've got the makings of a small sketch group slowly coming together. They're not all exactly concept artists, but we make due.
Let me know if either one of you are coming up this way and well get something going.

what are you guys up to? Been doing much drawing? I've been studying the body, muscle structure etc. It can be difficult to understand at first, but I feel that things are finally coming together. I haven't had as much serious drawing time because I'm apprenticing at Skinny Boy Tattoo (.com). It's probably the cleanest shop in Idaho. In fact it's not even a shop at all it's a clinic. It rivals some of the best shops in Washington and Oregon. Anyway, I'm excited to be there :) . Most of my time's been taken-up reading about microbiology, bloodborne and airborne pathogens, etc. Basically all that intells to be a safe and clean professional tattooist. I hope everyone's doing well and is drawing their fingers to the bone.

Good to hear from you, Nate. Have fun with the tattoo job. Years ago I did tattoos, it is a challenging and rewarding job.

I have been busy drawing and painting, I might even post a couple of things shortly.

In time I will head that way, I am having the rear axle seals replaced in my Montero Friday, and I should be back in business to hit the highway. I need to slip over towards Spokane Art Supply before too long. I will give you a holler and we can hit a coffeeshop or tavern and get some sketching in.

Take care,
Steve

What-up Fluffster,
I'm over in Post Falls. I'm not usually in Spokane due to my vehicle situation, but if you're over this way I'd be down w/a drawing session.
