Seattle Challenges the whole of California! (Thunderdome)

North, South, it don't mattah! Seattle wants to rumble with the showbusiness state.

Here's how it works. We'll post the names of the Seattle artists looking to be challenged by an artist from California. You California dudes and ladies look through and pick an opponent of similar skill. You call them out, and set the perameters of your challenge.

If you wish to participate, try to have your matches set up by the 7th of Sept. Finished pieces are due on the 21st of Sept @ midnight PST. On the 22nd, the battles will be judged by 5 judges, so far including:

Each battle is worth 1 point, with the total number of battles being the total number of points available. Team that scores the most points wins.

Once you have your battle set, please PM this account with the details of who and what. If anybody from Seattle (or any of Washington state, really) wishes to be added to the list, PM this account.

Please send finished works to [email protected] with the subject "Thunderdome Entry". Please name the file with your name (ex: TD_jetpack42.jpg) so I can arrange the proper contestants against each other easily. Please have them reduced to 72dpi, and around screen size. If they are huge, I will reduce them. Also, when sending your finished image, include the subject description (again) because that will make it alot easier on me who is arranging the finished thread where all the images will go.

I havne't a clue about the due date...

I ask my kids what the subject should (expect something along the lines of either dragons or eagles...) unless you want to do some sort of character. I don't know. I'm pulling a blank at the moment.

Let me pull together some ideas and I'll post them and let you pick from them.

Sure. The first two I was sort of thinking rather twisted characters.

The Mayor of Happiness, for example, is actually a character for a young adult story my wife is working on. He oversees an industrial wasteland dedicated to mind-numbing production. He's ultimately overthrown by beauty.

The Stamperman is a diabolical characterization of *anyone* who stamps hands (at theatre, fairs, museums, etc) jointly created by my two boys. Both kids were maniacly afraid of anyone with a hand stamp for a while.

Mystery Character Scene - my thought here was just simply a character in a scene that depicted mystery. So this one, of the three, is probably the easiest and most wide open.

I understand about having a hard time making decisions about all this. I'm rather in the same boat :\

I say we foist the decision off on bojee :D

Man you guys DO suck. I remember an art contest I entered last spring. I had to paint a finished picture, and I'm really not good with color, because I can't see red or green too well. I sat down and finished the picture in about 3 days, went for like 4 or 5 hours a day as soon as I got off work. Point is, if you want to do it you can, and if you need time, you can make time.

I spent a couple hours on it last night. The new tablet makes me paint differently and slightly faster. Towards the end of my session I went with a new color scheme and idea on the bg. I'll go home tonight and tinker a bit, but it will be in around 10pm. Probably earlier.

Ok after a total of about 17 - 20 hours I finally completed my work, I started slacking off and started drawing mindless things that I didn't want to be in there, but I didn't want to spend another 4 hours on it. Good luck with everyone else.....

lol christ 20 hours? i have barely put any time into mine and its due in 2 and a half hours. unless you count all the time studying horses and going to the library to get books on horses and then the going through the reference forum on CA to find armor and weaponry. most of my time has not been spent drawing.

I think I spent a solid solid 6 hours on mine, but got it done in a day... work suffered as a result, but whatever :)
