I'm not really sure about the lollipops thing, maybe prop-lollipops...?

for the crayons: search melting crayon art (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=crayon+melting+art&oq=crayon+m&gs_l=youtube.3.0.0l10.698.1622.0.2961.8.8.0.0.0.0. 96.578.8.8.0...0.0...1ac.6nYyB01Yb9o) on youtube. they seem pretty similar to encaustics (I might be wrong).
