Hi there, I'm an art student, I really want to start a webcomic.

Anyone else interested to start a collaboration?

I think you're gonna have to give us a little more to go on than that, Skip.

Show us some of your previous work, give us some backstory here.

Does it involve half-man/half-wolf creatures pursuing romantic encounters with Japanese girls in sailor suits?

I'll do it for 10 dollars a panel, black and white.

Define "thingies"... And are they on the half-wolf-men, the Japanese girls, or the sailor suits? OR ALL THREE?

But the most important thing to consider... Are tentacles and/or robots involved?

The biggest mallets you can imagine.

You know, big BAZOONGAS!.

Doesn't matter where or on who, as long as someone HAS them!

See, this is why possibly good webcomics get shit on so easily.

But if the guy was asking to collaborate for digital comics, the type that you can fit on to your fancy little expensive iPad (that I hope you didn't pay for) then oh no, that's not a webcomic artist, that's a webcomic artist with class.

You all make me sick. Why can't you just reply with "no"?

Screw you all.

Dammit.

The guy hasn't said a word about what the webcomic's gonna be like and you're all already slinging stereotypes around. Pejoratively, even. And the '$$$ or gtfo' line is getting really old... I mean--what--maybe that's not even the point here! Someone's saying, "let's make some art together!" and you're saying, "what's in it for me?". Last I checked, OP never said this was a commercial effort.

The summary of this thread:

Some Guy- Hey lets make a webcomic with the intentions to forget what art really is
Some other guy - Yeah lets do it but lets not forget to put bazoongas and big mallets in it. And yeah since I am nowhere near being mature it is ok for me to talk like this

No offense guys but even though this part of the forum is for other topics than art, this is still an art forum and most people here are either artists or are going to be one. It is so sad to witness this kind of inconsidered and sexually objectifying conversation here. When you are making ''innocent'' jokes about bazoongas and huge thingies you are actually feeding a monster called patriarchy.

Just chill out, getting offended on the internet is the most boring and pointless thing in the world. I find this thread quite funny myself.

I realize I'm new here but I don't find the response to the OP unwarranted. CA is a den of largely professional-quality artists. To make an OP that consists of little else than "Wanna make a webcomic?" isn't professional. It tells us nothing. The guy's an art student, so where is his art? Why does he want to collaborate? What's his level of commitment? Can he point to past projects that will guarantee he isn't just going to bail?

Plus, webcomics as a medium are largely unprofessional, messy, amateur-hour affairs. Please note I did not say ALL webcomics, just a lot of them. There are some truly excellent artistic, intelligent, well made webcomics out there. There are also slogs of complete garbage.

So if the OP comes back, lays out some details, then that's cool. On the right track. But if this is all he's giving anybody to work with...yeah, that's kinda lame.

Are you insane?
How is anything in this thread sexist?

I'm terribly sorry for using a judgmental term like "illness," I don't know what came over me. I should have said people with alternative thought modalities.

I got offended by the fact that you insinuated that
some people in this forum are insensitive. All
this does is help reinforce the stigma held against
flat earth theorists.

I laughed so hard my dog left the room and walked into the door frame on his way out. Thanks for adding animal cruelty to the list of terribleness caused by this mess.
