You are very welcome. Part of the motivation for this was hearing "I wish I got that in art school" when it came to business, legal, entrepreneurial, networking, and the chance to mingle with people who can change entire careers, build companies, or provide jobs.

There are sixty more speakers to be announced!!! Can't wait!

And thanks too! I look forward to sharing time with you.

The recipe for the Greenlight Summit:

+Start with the high impact format of the brilliant TED talks which expand our minds and understanding,
+Next, tailor the entire program specifically to the arts and entertainment industry, which TED is not.
+Add in greenlight pitch session opportunities with investors and publishers, for those those with the best pitches for creative business.
+Spoon in just the right amount of master classes.
+Prepare for networking sessions with a lot of incredible people and the industry.
+Layer in a grip of keynote presentations for added depth and rich flavor.
+Sprinkle in the right amount of minds from outside the industry.
+Stir with generous amounts of "what people don't get in art school or college"
+Add the "cherry on top" wisdom and inspiration.
+Serve as much success and opportunity as possible.

We had the option of attempting to do this on site like the original CA workshops did for so many years, and so many others clone now. If we did that, we could not be bringing all the presenters, speakers, professionals and students together as we are. We will have one joining us from the Cannes Film festival for example. When you see the final speaker list, eyes will be wide. This kind of thing has never happened before like this.

I genuinely want to continue to work to mix up things in new ways, but most importantly see CA provide the things that can have the greatest impact. The system will allow for all participants to connect with each other, share time, ask questions, visit the ones that were hard to fit in time for, or revisit those you want to see again...the works...from anywhere in the world that there is internet.

It is going to be an excellent show. I hope to see you there and will look forward to it for sure.

Hey Jason Manley,

Although booking and planning time for this event in advance is wise but suggest if I bought an early registration, and I have to work certain days, will there be an archive page I can access to see what I've missed?

Though networking and portfolio reviews not in person sound a little strange, I might make this into a personal challenge to have the best portfolio I can by May.

You can absolutely watch all the talks, presentations sessions etc...On Demand at your convenience. That is part of the point for sure. When I go to conferences I miss half the talks for reasons beyond my wanting to see the show. We can even set up the portfolio reviews so those can be watched on demand if you can't make it for that.

That is one of the best things about TAD, which is the crit time online. It works really well. We have all the paintover tools, photoshop, redline whiteboard etc...getting crits actually work better online in a lot of ways, and you can go back in and watch it again in case you didn't quite get something.

Look forward to seeing your stuff. Keep your nose down. You will do very well if so!

This is an online event inwhich I get to spend 72 hours having my work evaluated by professionals of their field and maybe get assistance in finding a direction inwhich to take my talents? Well that sounds really nice concidering. Atleast by paying someone, maybe I'll get some feedback. What if the artist does not use digital media?

Jason Manley
February 28th, 2012, 07:55 PM
The many hours are not spent around evaluation of your portfolio...there are 100 talks you can choose from, or attend, there are greenlight pitch sessions to see, there are portfolio reviews to be had, there are a question and answer sessions to join in on and more...as well as networking, connecting, and getting direction from the industry and your peers.

This group of speakers has never come together before. Those who make it will leave with brains pulsing and motors churning...and those who are ready for opportunity will have the chance to find it.

We hope to see you there!

Jason

PS we added ANDIE SIMON - SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF INTERACTIVE MEDIA - WARNER BROS. who will be joining us for the Greenlight Summit www.facebook.com/greenlightsummit ! This is great stuff and we hope you can make it!

Hello Jason

I wonder how feedback sessions will work during this event. I understand there'll be workshops and stuff by these pros which is awesome, but are there rooms, time limits, your choice of professional, etc. to choose from in another area during the event to have the feedback sessions?
Thanks in advance
-Miguel

Jason Manley

Miguel for feedback there will be a panel of professionals there to help you as a group. Artists will upload 5 images for feedback and will be given input from the panel. You will also be able to watch others feedback which I personally have found more valuable as you get to see what people say about work that you are not emotionally tied to as well. Makes it easier to say "aha!" when it comes to such things.

The feedback will happen on either Sat. or Sun. as the talks will take up most of the week.

I'm not an artist, but I've been hiring a lot of artists. I'm definitely interested in the business & creative (theory, like a lot of TED talks) side of things. Would there be anything in this for someone like me?

You are wondering about something that actually is hitting the nail on the head Mr. Bond. The point of this event is to bring together all the different type of minds which are associated with the future of the arts and creative entertainment fields.

Each speaker has been selected because of a particular point of view they have on the arts, entertainment, success, IP creation, and even entrepreneurship. There are CEO's, artists, visual effects gurus, strategists, visionaries, lawyers, agents, investors, producers, members of the media and more who will be sharing their truth and unique point of view. They are giving back to the industry and the community by sharing their time with all of us.

It will be a very well rounded show. Keep in mind that only half the speakers have been announced so far too, please. :)

For example, Alex Seropian--Alex founded Bungie, created multiple worlds from his vision and that of his team, and then sold it to Microsoft. Later he and the leads completed their contracts and formed a new creative company called Wideload Games. Wideload helped change the way games get produced. He then sold it to Disney and took over as head of their interactive games business. Recently he left Disney (just a couple weeks ago), to start a new mobile games company which is no doubt, going to lead in its space.

Alex's view on success applies to all of us, even if it is with art, music, or business, or any other endeavor. He strives for independent success first and foremost. He stays true to his vision, pursues his passion and he reaps the rewards. Millions have fun because of what he has made possible. He is just one example of those who will be with us and whom you will hear from.

I hope that answers the question, and that you will be able to join us. Even for the artists, the minds you would be most interested in will leave impressions that cause improvement, learning, and help them get better at what they do. This event is set to help all of us carve paths to success in any area we choose to do it, and the TED sized talks will be entertaining too.

Best,

Jason

We are happy to share that David Helgason, CEO of UNITY will be joining us at the Greenlight Summit. UNITY is a key technology for independent creatives to achieve success in games. Tech is a big part of the equation and this is great news!

Another fabulous speaker joins the fray, Mike Young, CEO of Moonscoop Productions, whom is producing more animated worlds than well...pretty much everyone! Mike is also TV an Academy Comitee menber at British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Los Angeles.

The Greenlight Summit welcomes Anita Kunz, member of the Royal Order of Canada and award winning illustrator (Time/Rolling Stone) as a speaker at the summit.

I'm hoping that I did this correctly. I registured and got the email from paypal showing that my payment went through but during those steps I don't recall seeing an option to list infoATgreenlightsummit.com as the payment address.

Hello,

Ok, I'm with a bit of a dilema... I really want to participate in this event, but I'm a student now. Recently started my career in DAE (digital arts and entertainment) in Belgium. If I compare what I'd get for the money this event is more than worth it.

My question is the following: I still have 2,5 years to go before I can even dream of becoming a professional in this sector and I assume that within this time many changes will occur in every sector that will be discussed. Would it be wiser to...

Ok, I'm not going to delete what I just wrote, maybe people that think the same way as me might get encouraged.

I was actually going to try and find an excuse not to attend... probably because I'm in some way afraid of not making it into the bussiness but, I know what I want for myself and this event will surely help me to achieve it.

Thanks in advance! I'm in :)
