My name is Alonso Vargas. I am a student studying Digital Animation at Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica.

I am looking to learn more in character design, anatomy, and other technical aspects so that I can improve as an animator and illustrator.

I am looking for more feedback on my drawings and illustrations so that I can improve. I really love drawing and animation but I am not very confident in my skills. So I'm trying to get my work out there to gain more confidence and learn more from people in my field!

Thanks!

Hi there! I think you have a very nice start here - I like your expressive style, and your boldness of colors. I think you definitly should work on anatomy and structure, and practice these fundamentals without trying to impliment any type of style. It is clear that you don't understand how certain things in the body work from the wonkiness of Captain Hook and Peter Pan's anatomy (ex: Hook's jaw-ear-cheek relationship looks like guesswork instead of built on form and proportions, and Peter's right shoulder is growing right out of his back), and the teeth on the loaf of bread seem to be glued, facing up, to his upper "lip". These are just a couple initial observations. Keep drawing your ideas for fun, but put a lot more of your time into your foundations classes, and if your school offers life drawing workshops, become a regular fixture at them! I know it's hard, I'm currently working on this myself, but I know it will be soooo worth it!

Yes! Finally someone replied! And I have showed my work to other people and everyone says my drawings are nice but they don't say anything else... I really appreciate your response and specially I appreciate that you told me which areas I am not doing right and what I should do to improve. Thanks Saramel! Will try to do more life drawing, anatomy and structure studies!

:^^: You are so welcome! I am doing the same thing myself right now, really trying to go back and improve on my basics - it's hard work, but I really believe it will be worth it - and you should start a sketchbook thread so you can track your progress (and so we can watch!)

My first impression is I really like some of them, but I wish they were all much smaller so it was easier to see them.
