The poor horse got wings attached to his hips. I guess you could toss him off a cliff suggesting flight ;).

I'm just kidding, but do give your next painting some xtra attention when it comes to function.

Good horse head and archer nice clouds the only real problems with this piece are the wings and the muscle structure between the horse's fore legs, it kind of makes it look like the horse's right leg is attached to its neck. The wings on most animals are positioned slightly infront of the weight (unlike a plane) because they also provide the thrust, although in this case you've got them stuck on its arse.

Let me tell you that I really like your idea here. Archer is good and BG also, but horse is weird (anatomy and hipwings). So re-make horse and this is gonna kick butt!

Thanks for the help guys, I fixed some of the things pointed out, the saddle, a bit on the horse's anatomy, a bit on the composition. Further critiques much appreciated.

sonofangron,
First off, very cool idea, kinda reminds me of the Mongol archers who can ride full out and still hit a stationary target dead center. However, please take this crit only for what it's worth. My eye still reads the wing of the pegasus as a tad odd. I was wondering if you moved the wing in front of your archer and thusly move him back a touch obscuring his left leg. If i'm right just about all the pegasi i have seen have the wings sprouting just above their shoulders with their riders sitting astride behind them. "Clash of the Titans" might help in terms of reference, cool scenes with pegasus there.
Hope this helps if just a bit...
Cheers!

Since I'm not an artist and know nothing about anatomy, I'm going to say something I do know. The arrow should be resting on his left index finger. At present, it's just floating in the air.

the wings should be bigger as well..pretty hard for a horse to fly you know..

When something isn't functionable just tell them it's magic! 'sides of what's been said, i love it.

yeah, if you were to put the wings where their "suppose" to be, it could cover too much of the rider's legs.

Nice horse anatomy

If I actually had one major descrepancy, with the pic, it's the front end of the horse. The position and pose of the archer is dynamic, tense, flowing, alive. However, in contrast, the horse is static, stiff, statuesque. Maybe a bif of bend in the neck, or maybe something to show that the pegasus is straining towards something...?

you can keep the wings there and the same size if you give it a slimmer front end, and a fat bottom. it would be great to see a weird horse like that anyways. sorry if this comment seems assenine but I'm serious.

O please the wings are fine, when have wings on a pegasus ever been a good idea, first off its a horse they weigh like just under a tone or something and if you were ever lucky enough to climb aboard on you would probably be blown away

Helzon: hehe, yeah. After watching Harry Potter 3 -- seeing the Hippogryph -- they DO have their wings nearer the front and the rider has his legs behind the wings.

Cyril: thanks :) And considering I used reference for the archer =P

Thanks so much for commenting guys! :)

In the meantime, I think I'm gonna watch an episode or two of She-Ra.

i say keep the wings where they are...i'm not sure if they were intentionally put so far back, but it makes him a little original...i like the idea...great work on the color and movement by the way...and, yeah, it's majik, man, it doesn't have to make sense!
