Hey everyone.

Just to let you know, I'm involved with a nice wee crew that organises dance parties on a highly sporadic basis and we're doing it again for Halloween. As well as nominally DJing, I'll most likely doing the digipaint thing again and there should be plenty of fun to be had for all.

The great news is that it looks like I'll have a flat before then, and can maybe accomodate a body or two if any of you suckas feel like making the trip in.

And if you don't care, I'm sure your mates do, so let em know ;)

Sounds cool! I'm going to a halloween party that weekend, either that day or the day before. I'll see when it is, but even if its the night before I dunno if i'll be able to handle another all nighter.. or half a nighter... or. bit of a nighter..:dad:

It's still £8 I think, but that runs out today. It'll be 10 or 12 after I think. Details are all here: http://www.fastoldman.com. I'll just be playing in the bar, so I'll be playing a range of funky shiite, nothing amazing, cause there's no monitors so you can't mix in there. The majority of the music will be breaks, with some electro and house. There's two main rooms, plus the bar area.

No, I very very much doubt anybody will get ID'ed. It's not that kinda place ;)

Shit I guess I better get practicing my speed painting!!

Hello! No internet at my new place yet, sadly, but will have that sorted in a jiffy.

Protect - Ipswich, eh? Never mind, there's life on the other side of Essex :P

Ok, so now I've moved into my new place, I realise just how much *stuff* I actually have, and how much of it I'm not going to be able to take to San Francisco. Sooo.. there's a whole bunch of stuff, including art supplies, easels, and books I'm almost definitely gonna leave here. Also there's my toys, including the awesome Spawn Interlink 6 bastich which stands about 18" high and can't possibly be shipped. Though I did ship it here from Australia haha. Oh, and there's books books and more books.

Most of this stuff will be free to a good home sometime over the next few months. The only catch is, I ain't toting it round the place. So for my buds in London, you're more than welcome to come check out the new place and see what you can take away in your merry little fists. Also there's my old sketchbooks for you to laugh at. train wise you should go to oxford station. there is only one. from london that means leaving from paddington. depending on what time you're leaving and which train you catch you might have to change at didcot parkway.

coach wise you are looking to get a coach to the bus/coach station in gloucester green, oxford. that leaves from buckingham road and stops off various places on the way. you can find them all here (http://www.oxfordtube.com/tube_times.php)

er. from anywhere other than london the destinations are the same but coach wise i dont know what they're called and stuff.

hope that helps.

To all the londoners out there, just got back from the hunterian museum at holborn and I would recommend it t everyone they've got some amazing stuff in there, plus its free entry. Heres a snap from one of the cabinets.

Right, sig fixed. So what have we decided with Oxford so far? Looks like we're probably going to the da vinci exhibit, right?

Everyone who's coming, wanna pm me with 'coming to oxford' in the subject line please? I'll update the 3.0 thread.

My gig is this Saturday night, and I don't imagine I'll be home till 9am, as per normal with these things. So I'm thinking this weekend is probably out, sorry Cai and Adam. We'll sort something though, I'm getting a bit annoyed with all this no-art going on.

In fact it's my birthday soon (ask how old I'll be and I'll kill you) and I need to think of somethign different to do. I was thinknig of maybe trying to convince people to do some sort of arty shit, since that's what *I'd* really like, and after all, it is all about ME ME ME. Anyway, I'll keep thinking. Suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Starbucks is cool, I'm getting the bus into the centre, so I dont mind walking to meet people at the train or the bus depot if anyone's getting a coach.

Also, I have an interview coming up with free radical design next week, and I was hoping anyone could give me some good interview tips, and also any advice on printing out a portfolio... Or just stuff that they'd be expecting.. cheers! :)

Mr Man
October 26th, 2006, 08:40 AM
Btw, Is the da vinci exhibition free entry? if not how much is it?

yAdam Hey man I dont know much about portfolios but what I do know that its important is to be very enthusiastic. There are several generic questions you gotta keep in mind too if you are asked them. I cant remember them all but I hope these help prepare you.

1 Why you want to work for them

2 What you think of their company and what makes their company different to others.

3 What you can do to benefit them

4 Example of when you have used your initiative

5 Example of working in a team to help solve a problem.

6 What made you successful in your last job (If relevant).

These are all I can think of at the moment.
But finally Remember strong handshake, smile, clean shaven etc, Good luck :teeth:

Dirty C
October 26th, 2006, 09:09 AM
Mr Manley always suggests a lot of research into that particular company. Basically, suck up.

The url parsing in 3.0 seems to be stuffed. But the thread's updated anyhow. Keep sending me those confirmations please people.

(Since I'm moving to the states I have to learn to do silly things like calling everyone 'people' without feeling silly hehe. I suppose the alternative would be to call you all some other kind of animal, in England most likely 'rodents' with a kinda blackadderish accent. Ok so I had a fairly strong pint of Erdinger at lunch, but still, I think it needed to be said.)

That's cool Adam, it went ok, but I was just painting so furiously and changing stuff all the time cause I didn't want people to get bored. Had sweat pouring down me at one poitn actually, and gave up too early cause I couldn't see anyone watching. Turned out later a few people were, and I just couldn't see them. Teach me to be impatient haha

The night was really good anyway. Much thanks to senor D.Sketch for coming along, with another fellow schoodent from his gaff. Cheers mate, good to see you :)

So, Oxford thsi weekend, eh? Have to try and get some sleep on Saturday then. I've said a meeting time of around 11. That still right, Badge? And if anyone's been left off the attendees list, let me know. My sig's fixed now, so you can follow the link there.

as far as oxford goes, whose going from london?any1 planning on traveling up together?can i tag along?

aefx - randoms are always welcome - big meets tend to have around a 30% random attendance3, one or two of whom might stick around in the long haul. We're happy to have people along once or as many times as they like :)

Danny - I wish I'd gone longer as well. I couldn't actually see anybody lokoing from where I was though, and I was mega uncomfortable on that roof. The old self confidence I guess :S If I ever do it again I'll just knuckle down and make sure I do a few solid hours. Honestly though, I was really sweating it, trying to keep going without getting too boring!

In reply to all the pro-banh baoer's, I give you this....

In the making! ;P

Note: For anyone who's wondering what we're on about, banh bao is the Vietnamese name for steam buns. :)

Also, for tomorrow:
floral case = bbq pork
plain case = pork (no noodles or eggs involved this time - purely 'cause I kinda sprung it at her in short notice ^_^;; So be grateful!!)

I hate to be a shit, but i'm canceling my journey to the meet as i've just got home after being mugged on my way back from work. I've had my house keys stolen, but thankfully i was able to wake my mom when i got home. I'll have to sort all this out as well as having to buy new locks for the house. Sorry guys :(

yes, i'm ok. No injuries. I'm glad i studied Tae Kwon Do :)

Yes, i'm really fucking pissed off too, cuz i can't come to the meet, and cuz i've been mugged.

Don't wanna talk anymore......

what guy?

sketchling
November 7th, 2006, 10:20 AM
The Guy's name was David Kirke, He is a patron of the arts he says and is a good friend of a lawyer artist who might mumble mumble cant remember great cider though.

His e-mail is thedsc(a)hotmail.com (anti spamspamspamspamspamsapmspam!!!)

I cannot remember what he was on about.... but he seemed interested in artworks. and was having a long conversation about writing e-mails taking up a lot of his life and stuff. If I remember rightly.

Funny thing is, its almost equal distance between naomi and fran, the london crew and my northern self! Ideal :D

And, Asguardian Adam, I put some thumbnails up in the ol SB bro.

Hello, this is a delayed response from me as I've just moved and there's no internet connection at the house yet. I just wanted to post up that I had fun last Sunday. Unfortunately I had not slept the night before as I was out in Brixton listening to good music til 6am. So apologies if I was less than talkative or a bit too quiet. Thanks to the people who were nice enought to talk to a complete stranger. Definately looking forward to the next meet.

November 9th, 2006, 03:10 PM
cool, I didn't know what was going on with what was suggested on sunday.

So, we still going to have 1on1 matches with another group? or have it only for the UK? I'm fine with either, and also easy about how long it should last.. Maybe 2 weeks is a good length? As for the topic, i'm not sure, but I think some people had a couple of ideas.......(?)

Dirty C
November 10th, 2006, 06:34 AM
If we squared off against another group again, who would it be? If we vcould get a decent list of participants, a 'uk vs the world' would be quite fun :) Just difficult ot get people enrolled first, without a valid challenge decided.

yAdam
November 10th, 2006, 07:23 AM
How about we make a general thread in the challenge section? Just say its either the UK vs 'other country / state' or UK vs The World, and just see who's interested in the challenge.... Or if anyone from another country is secretly browsing the UK thread they could post in here and tell us they're up for the TD....

Its going to be easy to sort out matches once we've got participants, we could say something like a minimum of 8 or 10 per country? What does everyone think?

Badger
November 10th, 2006, 07:49 AM
Okies bitches i'm in, though i don't have to time, well i could always go out even less, heh. How about UK vs. scandanavia? I'll see if i can get lorenzo! in.

Why not?
