Well, the Canucks are out of the playoffs but I'm still happy to be here. I know there is a lot more talent from Van City on this board. Let's hear from you(Ruby, Blackarts and more)!

bummer on the Canucks loss...that was an intense game.
I suppose I'll join this Vancouver chapter, since it's the nearest one to me. I end up down there at least a few times a year.
I wish these chapters were started sooner though because I just spent a year going to school in Burnaby.....now I'm back up north for a while....18 hours away....

Hey guys, I'm out in Burnaby, I'm moving to downtown Vancouver next month.
I would love to get a semi regular sketch group going, I'm a beginner artist, I try to draw regularly but have trouble finding the energy after work sometimes. A sketch group would help! :)
I know Metalwinds, Metaphysiks and Rubygenesis are all in the area, although they are all way above my level.
P.S. I was actually thinking of trying to take some classes part time at AIV (aka CDIS), but they require a minimum 60% course load, not sure if I can swing that while working full time. Have to think about it some more I guess. :)

if you can get into a lifedrawing class there with Roger Vermeulen or George Koochin it'd be worth it...they're both mad geniuses.....
....must be a new policy that they require a 60% course load too....back when I was there 2 semesters ago I had a firend taking just one class in video editing.
If you haven't talked to the folks at the office there you should....they make exceptions for stuff now and then.
peace,
-Rob

If you're looking for life drawing sessions, you should check out Basic Inquiry Life Drawing (http://www.lifedrawing.org/index.html). I haven't actually been yet, but it looks pretty cheap if nothing else. Anyone else know any good life drawing sessions around town?

Adien you might also want to look at www.eciad.ca and see what they are offering in terms of summer continuing studies courses.

I too went to CDIS (Art Institue of yadda yadda). I just graduated in February from the game design program. Now I'm living in Abbotsford (but I'll soon be moving to god knows where). Most of my time is spent looking for a job, and dreading the day I might have to go out and get a regular job to support myself.

Hi guys. I went to AI burnaby also, officially graduated a month ago. On a contract at a big game company now, moving downtown next month. I would be interested in a sketch group, even tho my drawing skills are fairly weak because I've been focusing on 3d for the past few years. I'm right now getting heavily back into drawing. I know there must be more vancouverites than this around on this forum.

As a recent sudent a couple years ago of CDIS days and reading through some of the threads on the site, you guys sound like you need a forum to post some of your work? I only just stumbled across this site, don't really know much about it? I'll cruise through it a bit. But if there are any local artists interested in getting some of there work published I suggest you might check out www.bigdoorart.com. Maybe make a little extra $$$
Just thought I would put that out there?
Cheers.

I live in Burnaby myself. Would definately be interested in getting a sketch group going....for those that are interesting in the lifestudies class down on main street. Its pretty good. I've only been able to go there a few times, saturdays primarily, its a good environment to just do some sketches...
Cheers.

Everyone in this thread, since you all think it's dead, check out the new thread i made, "Calling all Vancouver Artists" and maybe we can start something up again, and make this club thing real.
