Yep, well it is the Netherlands discussion after all... If you want a drawing group in Portugal i'd suggest setting it up! It's not that hard i think ;-) good luck!

I'll do this in English since there may be non-dutchies that want to attend to the Masterdam sketch thang anyway.

About the location: Well, i contacted Wackers but they are leaving the building april 30th and will move to a new location in the summer. So for the time being there is no space at their place, in the fall they're open to suggestions.

So... we need a location for the mean-time. Wietse, did you manage to find something? nbT you had some info on it too...

All we would like to do for now is to find a one-time location, i.e. just get together and draw for one time and see who comes in and how it goes. We are therefore looking for a location that will hold some max. 15 people, has easels (preferably), is cheap and has some privacy if we get a model there.

I'm moving to a new house right now so i haven't got much time the coming week but my plan is to arrange all this in the coming three weeks and get this thing started!

Any help is appreciated, it's not so much work but please contribute and don't just consume ;-)

And this is for the other people in NL that think they're too far away: find some others in your area and set it up for yourself! It's not so difficult, at least less difficult than setting up the whole workshop, so get to it and you'll have your sketch group. If you keep waiting for it it will never happen ;-)

yeah i had a space too
i mailed you about it. they rent space for artists, they must hava access to models and materials. ill see if i can drop by them in the weekend. get some info.

if the space thing doesnt work out (wich i doubt) theres always a milion other things to do/go to. vondelpark. bars. we can go do portraits. nature excursions. visit the zoo. visit classic statues exhibitions. stuff like that. most of it is for free.

Btw, this is just a wack suggestion, but at my school there`s tons of classrooms that are hardly ever used and we got easels too. It`s not really central, but perhaps there are schools which could rent space and the material somewhere more central.

Zoals Joeri zei, als je om 2 uur op a'dam centraal bent (main hal waarschijnlijk) gaan we met z'n allen naar het vondelpark (neem een tramkaart mee). Laat ff weten of je mee wil als je niet weet waar het is zodat we weten op wie we moeten wachten.

Mij maakt het niet uit hoe oud je bent, als je maar into conceptart bent. Van elkaar leren is een van de strevens, dus kom als je denkt er wat aan te hebben en leuk mee te kunnen doen.

Yup, strippenkaart is wat ik bedoelde hehe. Hoe herken je ons, goeie vraag. How bout : ik heb een rood t-shirt met een ribbed jacket aan + spijkerbroek .. ook nogal algemeen uhh.. lange gast, kort blond haard met rugzak .. en .. ik heb ook een vriend bij me die van katori (spelling?) afkomt en zn japanse zwaarden bij zich heeft. Anyway, als je een beetje rondkijkt zul je ons wel zien of wij jou, zo groot is die hal niet en een stel gasten van +/- 20 die rondhangen met schetsboeken en zwaarden valt wel op ;).

Dit is nou precies zo'n situatie waar ik een CA.org t-shirt voor wil!

Het blijkt dat er een voorkeur is voor door de week, is vrijdag een goede dag? Dan stel ik voor vrijdag 15 of 22 oktober, 's avonds een uurtje of 1900 in Amsterdam.

Ik zorg voor een locatie ergens binnen ;-) en Xavier zorgt voor een thema. Lijkt me leuk als er ook iets meer mensen komen.

voor de gasten van de hku(gdd of watever) kunnen wij niet iets op school regelen? er is nog dat oude tekenlokaal (buiten) in die kelder met schilderezels en veel plek enzo. T zou vet zijn als wij daar iets zouden kunnen regelen. En ik ben er wel voor om na school ofzo 1x per week te sketchen in Hilversum of utrecht. Dinsdag ofzo? anyone intrested? Op school kunnen we alleen op vrijdag in lokaal 1112 sketchen. de heledag. dit is alleen voor hku studenten. jammer voor de niet 'hku'-ersl. wie wil sketchen in dat lokaal moet vrijdags maar langs komen of met floris of mij ofzo ff aanspreken. je hebt een pasje nodig om dat lokaal binnen te komen. die heb ik, dus mocht niemand in het lokaal zijn dan moet je me ff zoeken. waarschijnlijk zijn floris en ik zeker na 1 uur in dat lokaal te vinden (he floris???). we hadden in gedachten om ook voor deze 'sketch sessiosn' in themas te werken. dat moeten we allemaal nog ff afspreken.
anyway dit zijn de stand van zaken mbt het lokaal in de hku.

(I apologize for writing this in English. I don't know any Dutch) I'm putting together a 24 Hour Comics Day in Dijon, FRANCE.

What is a 24 Hour Comics Day, you ask? Why, simplicity itself, my dear Watson. A 24HCD is a personal challenge for an artist to make a 24-page comic book in 24 hours. It's completely non-comptetive. There no winners, no losers, no prizes, and no medals.

The challenge is hardly limited to professionals. We seek beginners and pros alike. The only goal is to express yourself as you can.

The 24HCD will be held April 23-24 all over the world, but this one is the first and only in Europe.

We're looking for artists who would like to take on this original challenge. We also need people who would like to help promote the 24HCD. How to do this? Easy: if you think it's a good idea, talk about it! Seeing as it's the first one in Europe, we could easily have tens or even a hundred artists. We've already got a several foreign artists. With word of mouth, the sky's the limit!

Dijon isn't really far from the Netherlands, only about 6 hours from Amsterdam, I think. There're already a whole lot of Romanians coming, so distance is not an excuse!

ik ben de "een vriend van Floris" :P. ikzelf ben bij de laatste 2 " CA-bijeenkomsten" geweest. twas erg leuk, maar ik denk dat we, als we er echt iets aan willen hebben, toch iets strenger moeten zijn en echt een onderwerp uitkiezen enzo, en een beetje disciplinair met tijden omgaan (right, as if). het zou ieders vooruitging iig bervorderen. vorige x hadden we hier al een begin aan gemaakt, en het werkte goed. ikzelf kan er vrijdag 9 april niet bij zijn. de 12e moet ik naar de filmacademie voor mn 2e aanmeldingsronde (ow mai gawwd ><). iemand nog advies over maquettes maken? plz post.

Thema's onderwerpen, ja!, dat was het plan :).

De meeste mensen tekenen voornamelijk een ding, bijvb karakters (<schuldig), omgevingen, etc. Het idee van de opdrachten is dus ook om je uit je routine te sleuren en iets nieuws te proberen. Bij de eerst sketchgroup hadden we het idee bedacht dat elke keer iemand anders een onderwerp voorbereid. Aangezien we niks afgesproken hebben de vorige keer rip ik er snel een paar uit de daily sketchbook. Voel je vrij om dingen toe te voegen aan het lijstje.

Als ik zo kijk naar onze HKU-sketch groep houdt iedereen zich vrijwel alleen bezig met het tekenen van karakters, omgevingen of een gebouw tekenen zou voor een verse nieuwe wind (of zoiets) zorgen

....maar karakters zijn ook goed, maar dan wil ik wel een onderwerp als "verschillende manieren om Daniel dood te maken" of "Daniel met veel pijn" of zoiets. En geen onderwerpen als Red Necks en Dansende Spidermans.. :dur:

We zitten er aan het eind van de middag, uitlopend in de avond, aangezien sommige mensen werken etc.

Wat we doen? Tekenen en praten (over een biertje / cola) over vanalles, game industrie, films, games, CA, whatever. We hebben nog niet echt een struktuur waar we elkaar opdrachten geven o.i.d, maar dat is nog in ontwikkeling.

Pfff...volgens mij heeft Floris dat wel beschreven in een oudere post, maar tot voor kort was het beetje tekenen en tussendoor ouwehoeren over van alles en nog wat onder het genot van een biertje. Maar zoals al werd gezegd wordt de structuur veranderd en willen daadwerkelijk opdrachten en thema's hangen aan de meetings. Natuurlijk is iedereen welkom, beginner of pro. Dus ja, zorg dat je naam op de mailing list komt (Floris PMen) en je hoort meer (volgende meeting is volgens mij eind juli, maar is nog niet zeker. Uiteraard in Amsterdam).

We had an unoffical revival in march. Marko was over in Amsterdam with Erik and we had a drink with the HKU group and several peeps from guerilla (Erik, p4bl0 and more). Good times were had and there was a general concencus to do this more often. Some pics::

This way we can get in a flow, cause my expirience is that the flow is real bad in one day and if you do 2 days, you get to know eachother first and then the 2nd day you are um played in on eachother a little bit, I don't really know how to say it. Maar met 1 dag heb je van we moeten haasten met tekenen en met 2 heb je zo van maar morgen hebben we ook nog. En als het niet leuk is dan flikkeren we gewoon op, maar als het wel leuk is is het zonde om dat 1 dag te doen, omdat het toch altijd weer ee ntijd duurt voor we elkaar weer zien.

okay, let's evluate...

First off all, I have to agree with Gilles, we will always wind up with people that can't come, so we have to make hard dates. I also like his idea to do one next week for everyone thats free. So, yeah, that means Thrillzilla probably can't come the 13th but well, we have to maken sacrifices for the bigger goal here :P (we will send you a birthday-card or something).

Second, I like H.H.V.'s to do 2 days, but I don't know if I make time for 2 days of sketch fun, since I also have to do some homework and stuff for a project (hell-of-a-lot of work for me and Floris). But, the argument you state, the fact that the first day we can get to know each other and won't do a lot of drawing isn't completely true. In fact, DavidSmit, FlorisDidden, Thrillzilla, me and Joeri (he hasn't posted yet, but i'm sure he will come) are doing the same education and are in the same year together (Floris, Thrillzilla en ik zitten bij elkaar in de klas en David en Joeri), Jain is also doing the same education and is familiar with Gilles and stuff, so a lot of us already know each other and in fact attended past sketchgroup meetings. And believe me, nobody is going to hate each other, Sketchgroup meetings are all about love and peace, being together and doing what we like to do most, drawing cool stuff..:P

So, I would like to do 2 days of sketching frenzy, but I just don't know if I have the time.

Anyway, I vote for Gilles his idea. A meeting on both the 3th and 13th of may, with the option to do 2 days of sketching madness around the 3th?

Everybody gets what he wants that way. Anyway, i'm of to bed, will check this thread in the morning.

:S i'm gonna cry really hard for a bit. Luckily i just baked some brownies for comfort (goes great with the chickflick on tv today). The main reason i never checked out the other thread i opened before was a. there were hardly any replies and b. i've started working 4 days a week since last january, so now i don't have much time (i commute about 4 hours a day between home and work). While i'd love to participate in these meetings, i'm basically unavailable during the weeks.

But I live quite off-centre, in Eindhoven..
If you think it's a good idea I'll ask my parents and my boyfriend what they think about it. We have place for two people to sleep over on the "uitklapbare slaapbank", and if you bring mats along with you, there can be a bit more people who sleep over.

However, I think I wont be able to join you guys in the upcoming session, because my exams start next week. Nevertheless will I be sticking to this sketchgroup - as soon as I'm able I'll join.

However, few things on a sidenote. Thrillzilla can't make it, it's his birthday so he needs to party a lot and stuff.

For the location thing, we always held our Amsterdam meetings in a bar called "De Balie", real nice place where you can sit and draw but, since the weather is really nice these days, we can save the bars for the evening and just draw outside, in the "Vondelpark" maybe....?

Offcourse you can come along, everybody's welcome. Oh, about the question, past sketchgroup meetings were often in Amsterdam, because that's easier for pro's that were coming to (they work in Amsterdam), but we also had sketchgroup meetings in Utrecht, it just depends on where everybody wants to go.

Anyway, this one is in Amsterdam, so if you want to come, your welcome, it's gonna be tons of fun, just chilling together, drawing, discussing the important questions in life etc. etc. So...uhm....come.

Ik wil graag een weekje meelopen in het begin van komend schooljaar op het HKU, dat lijkt me heel gaaf enzo, ik zou er graag wat van willen proeven.
Nu vroeg ik me af; bij welke opleiding zou ik het beste mee kunnen lopen voor een week? Ik ben zelf vooral van het schetsen en een beetje digital painting, maar ik sta er wel voor open om nieuwe dingen te leren enzo. Daniel vertelde me over GameDesign, en dat is misschien wel wat voor me eventueel, maar misschien ook weer niet want heel veel heb ik ook weer niet met games :S hmpf, ik vind het gewoon zo moeilijk om beslissingen te maken!
Zouden de HKU'ers onder ons eventueel wat willen vertellen over wat ze zelf doen en waarom ze dat hebben gekozen ofzo? En wat opleidingen zouden zijn die bij me passen? Voor meer info zie m'n schetsbook (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45999&page=3). :)

My toe got operated on a couple of times because of the toenail :dad: , still everytime after a couple of months it came back to show it's ugly head. UNTILL a half year ago :D. I'm CURED!

Had a blast yesterday, I'm glad the sketchgroup is back in action, and with so many new faces. It's already a cool group. Looking forward to next month.

We'll pick a date more in advance so more people can come. Also it's a good idea to have eachother phone nrs., it makes it so much easier, we were waiting for a few people yesterday that never showed up. PM me for my nr.

Had a really great time there in amsterdam people, too bad the ones that were not there, were, well... not there :) It is so much more motivating to be drawing people that are motivated by the fact that you are drawing. (see the endless inspiration loop?)

My summer vacation starts at the 1st of July officially (that's quite soon huh?), but about a week before, we have unofficial vacation.
How's this with you other dutchies? When does your vacation start?
I think we (southern Netherlands) are first this year with schoolvacations.
I guess the people who have real true jobs (thinks; the guys from streamline studios?) will have other vacations tho.

My vacation is the month june, then I start internship in july already. Weekends are free most of the time.

I don't believe the streamline guys have vacations..

I'm with Floris on this one, we'll organize a sketchgroup every month, so don't worry if you can't make it, there always will be one next month.

Just don't expect us to cancel meetings just because you can't make it, this happened a lot in the past, when we still had a small group, if someone couldn't make it, we canceled the meeting right away, finally resulting in no sketchgroup meetings at all. I really want to keep this thing going, we have a great group now and the meetings are great for your motivation and it's always good to look at other people drawing, learn from them, try stuff out yourself.

En het is gewoon gezellig :P

1. there will be sketchgroups and

2. they will be every month

3. there's a minimum of three people to form a group (three is a crowd remember?)

So without further ado, a date will be picked. I'll offer you guys a possible meetingspace once again in my humble abode at Utrecht, from which the city is a 5-10 minute walk. How's about the:

It's better for me to go in the middle of the week also, because
1) I don't miss my "work"
2) On thursdays and fridays I'm out of school at 12.10 u.
