I'm looking to move to NY, get a fresh start at things in a more art based community.

Loren, don't move out here unless you have some serious savings or a well paying job lined up. Safe bet is to expect to pay at least 25K in Rent alone. it's not a cheep city, and it's set up to siphon money out of your pocket. I just got a wimpy fruit salad for $4.00. it's fucking fruit.

vigostar
April 7th, 2006, 11:00 AM
interceptor- dont move to nyc unless you have a pretty decent income. Its expensive and evem when your living with a roomate its expensive... You wont find rent less then $800 a month and that would be in a dump, in a shitty neighborhood. a nice one bedroom apt in a decent area would run you at least $1000 a month. trains are $2 one way unless you get and unlimited card. If you work in the city lunch is a minimum of $6 for a sandwich. Then there electricity, cable, cell fone, internet.. fuck its expensive but, theres no better place to live.

Art Out Loud after party tomorrow.

Location:
816 Broadway. Between 13th and 12th streets.
2nd floor buzzer.
Time: 4:30- 9? (possibly later depending on how the party evolves)

Bring: Whatever it is your going to use for drawing. If there are any volunteers who want to bring two large illoboards that will be used for the collaborative project let me know. Helps me out from doing one less thing. Also, if you have a box of cheap markers or crayons that can be used for the collaborative project let me know as well. Also, bring drinks... Beer, sodas, juices, milk.. Whatever you like to drink bring it. Remember sharing is caring! I'll see you guys and gals tomorrow! Its gonna be a great day!

One last thing. Although this is a party, this party was intended for the people attending the AOL exhibit and CAer's. Please do not start calling your friends, aunts, uncles, babysitters, homeboys and homegirls!

Loren - NYC is INCREDIBLY expensive - probably just slightly less than Tokyo and London (guessing now). BUT that doesn't mean you shouldn't think about it. Living in Manhattan is extremely difficult to swing for a young person starting out, unless they stumble across a really good situation with a roommate. So where are all the young folk - most have spread out to Brooklyn...which is slightly cheaper, a bit roomier, and more residential. There are some nice things here and there in Brooklyn, but you'll need to take a subway to get to all the hot spots in Manhattan (museums, galleries)
At first you may also have to get creative on budgeting - Yeah..food is crazy expensive...but I bagged my lunch when in Manhattan (most of the time). PB & J tastes awesome, is cheap as hell, and you won't get a fat ass eating it. Or when I worked at the Frick Collection they have a cafeteria that only costs $2 and they feed you like pigs there (perhaps a job there?) Cell phones are good..but do you need a cell phone AND a telephone in the apartment? Can you swindle your folks into paying a bill? Do you know any rich girls that are lonely (ok joking...sort of ;)) It's not impossible...and NYC is a great place to live. Or you can live with Arkady and his harem of young boys :P

AmishCommy
April 7th, 2006, 12:01 PM
oh how i miss my harem.

This is the greatest city in the world. Everyone else is just kidding themselves. but good things always come at a price.

I could be rolling around in money back in Florida, while stabbing myself out of boredom, but i prefer being broke in New York.

All you gotta remember here in NY is that when you get your ass kicked (and most likely you will) just get up and try again, and again, and again.

what is the best way to get a job in NYC area?
i know this is stupid question.

vigostar
April 11th, 2006, 09:45 AM
zake- what kind of a job are you looking for? I mean you can get a job at the hundreds of starbucks and McDonalds in the city but, I get the feeling your talking about art related stuff.... In which I would assume its pretty difficult... There arent too many gaming companies in NYC.. I know that Rockstar has an office and then theres the publishing houses but, I gues you have to contact the art directors directly for that.. Its hard to stay afloat in NYC with a regular paying job... Its not like in other places where you can make 30K a year and live a normal life... Anyway.. good luck.. check out Craigslist.org they have tons of great jobs there in all areas... good luck.

natsch
April 11th, 2006, 10:11 AM
Yo beware of Craigslist jobs - if you're not careful you'll end up working for $10 an hour.

Art related jobs are difficult to find. I just quit my job doing prints and patterns for women's underwear. Thats about as art related as it gets sometimes. There's a couple animation studios but unless you have money / connections / both this is a tough town.

If you wannna do fashion / graphic design, try to find a placement agency, like http://www.24seventalent.com. Also, try posting your resume and portfolio on http://creativehotlist.com - depending on the strength / focus of your portfolio, that can be a great resource.

You need to earn at least 30k in this city, I think, to be above subsistence level. Its kind of a bitch.

Hey Guys,

I can't remember if I posted this here or not (my brain is still a little mushy after the weekend.) but.....

Greg and I spent Sunday at the Museum of Natural History with a pair of binoculars. Looking at the paintings in the animal dioramas "close up" is amazing.

We only got through the mammals of North America, but I'm looking forward to seeing Africa next. (Although the N. American dioramas are considered to be slightly better than the African.)

Arkady - I think you would particularly get a kick out of the Carl Rungius "Alaskan Moose" painting.

Just one more arty thing to do in New York City.

AmishCommy
April 11th, 2006, 11:19 AM
I'll totally try and make it out there one of these weeks if you promise to come along Nate. How's life's drama treating ya, anyways?

zake- just from experience, it took me almost a year to find a steady job that actually paid a living wage. I did some poopy frelance jobs that paid next to nothing and survived on my personal savings and loans from family. After working at my current job for just over half a year, i'm finally starting to get out of the black.

This is a tough city. there are literally millions of people that all fighting for their own piece of the pie. you have to be very quick and cool under pressure. another problem is that with the huge competition, there is always someone with the same credentials willing to do the job for less. this is great for the employer, but sucks for the rest of us that have to work our asses off for less than normal wages.

your best bet is to focus on your strengths and do a ton of research before you come out here. i think if i had layed out the groundwork before i moved up here i would have had an easier time finding work.

Irene - what happened to Greg finishing that job he started at AOL2??? I guess there's always room for some Museum hopping.

Hi All

After a long East Coast drought, there's a new show of Jerome Witkin's work in NYC. He's showing from April 22, 2006 through May 27, 2006 at the ACA Galleries:

ACA Galleries
529 West 20th Street, 5th Floor
New York, NY 10011
212-206-8080
www.acagalleries.com

You can check out some of the work in the show here:

http://www.acagalleries.com/dynamic/exhibit_artwork.asp?ExhibitID=88

Nothing on the web or in print can do justice to Witkin's large scale work- this is a great chance to see some of his work in person. In my opinion it's some of the most exciting realist painting going on in America.

Nate: If you've got stuff to promote your gallery, have some of that stuff on hand with ya when we meet up at Haven Arts, and I'll make sure it gets to the art department. I can't guarantee much of a turn out from BCC students though, but you never know.

Hey all,
Haven't posted in a real long while, but I figured the New York crowd might like this. It's a sketch group that meets twice a month in Brooklyn called Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School. Ten bucks for 3 hours with burlesque dancers as models. You can check out all the information, scheduling, cost, and so on and so forth here:

Allright I'm done for now. Happy drawing.

this is Molly Crabapple's thing. She used to model at the SoI and, according to her, it was her idea to start with the burlesque dancers. Should be fun. Same vibe as the SoI.

I think Angel and I are planning to go painting in central park that day. but we may move the painting party to sunday if enough people are interested in dr. Sketchy's.
on the one hand, Dr. Sketchy's = nekid girls and figure drawing for $10.00.
on the other, the Park = cute girls in bikini's, beautiful weather, and FREE!!!!!

also this Friday 28th there's an opening of work by Mu Pan and James Jean

It's been a while since I was in a titty bar, but do burlesque dancers give hands free lap dances? Nah, seriously though that Dr. Sketchy thing sounds cool, but Brooklyn & me have never gotten along well to date. I suppose in the end it'll depend on how far it is from the faster subway lines for me. If you guys check it out and get a good vibe from it, I'll do my best to motivate out there for one of them, but I'd have hit them with my ten'er at the door.

Nate: edit: I gotta take a raincheck on this and though it's really late notice something came up that someone was trying to get in touch with me about earlier.

It's a great place above a deli with a really cool cemetary near by and a big park a few blocks north of it. takes about 30 mins to get to Manhatten. Arkady,

I'm not sure if Illustration House is open on weekends. You might want to give them a call. If you want to see the work, you should go before the auction on the 20th. On the day of the auction, all the work will be placed in back room and brought out one at a time.

I tend to go to the actual auction, just as a spectator. It's fun....in a long, drawn-out sorta slow way....but it's not good for actually seeing the artwork.

Maybe the reason why people are "flaking" on you is really to avoid you. Don't take it personal because I don't know you or these situations and you definitely don't know me. But from what I can gather from this thread, you always have something negative to say about someone or to someone. The way you're acting will only alienate people. sketchgroup has been in limbo for a while becasue people started complaing that we spent too much time at in the Cafe at the Met drawwing fat white tourists. As soon as the weather got nice we went to the park to sketch like we used to. a lot of the mebers of sketch group are students and they have obligations like homework that kept them away. Some are under age so they could not join us for late night drinking and sketching. lots of other factors drove some people away. Plus, I can't always be there sketching on some days. I was pretty happy to let someone else take the leader's role in the group, but apparently (and i'm not saying this from the point of view of my huge ego) people can't get along without me as a mediator. I never wanted the mommy role. but some of you, aparently are too imature.

so here is the deal with the sketch group - as long as i'm in New York it's still alive. those of you that want to participate will have to be a little flexible and check here for updates on meeting places and times. Everyone is still welcome. your dramas, however, are not!!! i don't want to hear about person A picking on person B. i'm not your mommy, so settle this bullshit amongst yourself.

and Angel, once again, you are starting shit for no reason. for the sake of creating drama. I have enough drama in my life right now (i think i already told you what it is) which is way more important than any bullshit you're starting. if you want to start a valid argument about profesionalism, art, ego, or selling out then be my guest. I'm game. Don't go starting fights and character assassinations. I don't play that game. I know you probably don't care about this but I still have some respect left for you. Very little. do with that as you please.

ok as for the plans for this weekend.:
Sunday instead of Saturday. I will be going to Riverside Park on 89th St. and West Side Highway at 9:00 AM (yeah i know that's way too early)
There will be the 2006 Dogswalk Against Cancer benefit. several members of the Society of Illustrators will be there along with me and a few other volunteers drawing charicatures of Dogs for their owners. You can bring whatever materials you would like to work with. You don't get to keep your work. This is for a good cause and should be fun. there will be coffee (thank Allah)
if you're interested in participating PM me and i'll give you my contact info.

You are absolutely correct B Prodigy. If I was a lonely, wimpy person with no backbone who couldn't stand up for myself or handle criticism, I'd avoid someone like me like the motherfucking plague.

you are starting shit for no reason. for the sake of creating drama.

You are unbelievably dense. The reason I created this "drama" is because at one point I actually cared about the group and thought it could become a good place to discuss art, art issues and technique. How naive I was! You people don't have much interest in art. You just want to socialize. You are permanently stuck in the fan mentality.

I couldn't just leave without speaking my mind. I have done so and am satisfied.

Now you might expose me, probably, because of your talent/ curse and I find it entertaining, I'm smiling already. . Tell me something funny again.

Americans in Paris 1890-1900 Exhibition

Exhibion Schedule:
National Gallery, London (Feb. 22 - May 21 2006)
Museum of Fine Arts Boston (June 25 - September 24 2006)
The Metropolita Museum of Art New York (Oct. 17 - Jan. 28 2006)

My guess is that there will be plenty of Sargent and Whistlers displayed - that's a fine thing.

you don't have to make reservations. However, if you want to guarantee table space, it's better to reserve one, otherwise it's first come, first serve. If you are going to reserve a table, do it sometime this week. I've done both, and either or the space is fairly accomodating.

OK - whoever want to go just let me know through here or PM me or email me or send me a package in the mail with some food (i'm really hungry) or whatever. This way if we need a giganto table or something it won't be a problem. If it's too crazy I'll just give them a fake number , like table for 40 or something :)

Sotheby's has some amazing American illustration coming up for auction - Wyeth (both Andrew and NC), Rockwell, Parish, Jessie Wilcox Smith, Frank Schoonover, etc. The catalogue can be viewed at sothebys.com. (Scroll past tons of not-so-interesting seascapes.) The exhibition begins Saturday May 20th. While the auction is way beyond my wildest dreams, I am looking forward to seeing the preview.

We can start in the early afternoon around 1 or 2pm.... For those who have a long train ride...

Hey, y'all...

Well, I've been out of touch for a little while, since moving in March. I had the choice between a tiny apartment in a dirty part of Brooklyn, that was a "3 bedroom" with two really, really small "bedrooms" and a closet that I guess was supposed to be the 3rd bedroom, or a really large house with lots of space and a big yard in East Setauket for the same price ($1000/mo). The choice was...career (Brooklyn) or family (East Setauket). Crowded and loud (B) or empty and quiet (ES), insane (B) or sane (ES), close to the city (B) or really far away (ES).

We chose East Setauket. Looks like it will be even harder to get together now. At least there's a forum, right?

Anyway, I read this last page to kind of get up to speed...who was that dick? Rear Naked Poke? No, wait, I REALLY don't care. I love how, after he left pouting, everyone just ignored his tantrum and went on talking like he never existed. That seemed appropriate, and I'm sorry I even brought him/her up.

Hey, Amish, it was good to see you at the con a few months back. Any good news come out of that? I met up with a friend named Louis Small, Jr. and we ended up hanging out for most of the con. Cool guy. His ex-girlfriend posed for the nude artist pose book put out by Associates in Art a few years ago. He got a lot of interest from Marvel, and it looks like he'll be doing work for them again.

Anyway, I'm taking the wife into the city for mothers day, to eat at a raw food restaurant on Sunday. Should be an experience. Other than that, I have no idea when I'll be in the city next.

My daughter is following in my footsteps. Her first piece of artwork is in the "Its Finally Finished" gallery under the name "Mother's Day Gift - A father/daughter collaboration." She drew the piece last year, when she was 4. What a talent! I colored it, and hope I didn't mess up the energy and feel of the original piece...

Hey Rob - awesome of you to offer up your place. I'll be a no-show, however :(
Painting all weekend and then I gotta make the wifey's Mother's Day all special...cause she's a sentimental momma now.

Zak - I'll check that pic you and your daughter did. I'm not sure where East Setauket is on the Island..I feel like I've been there alot, but can't place it. Suffolk or Nassau county? Anyway..I run a life drawing class on Monday nights in Dix Hills (by Huntington) at the Art Students League of Long Island (www.artleague.org) 7-10pm. If you get the chance and it isn't too far c'mon out. cheers

Hey Guys,

I have a question. The guy that runs the Society's lecture series has asked if I would put togther a science fiction & fantasy lecture. It would be in the fall, probably around October-ish.

Now...what would be most interesting? A group of artists doing a panel discussion, kinda round tabel like? One or two artists giving a slide lecture? Me interviewing one artist? A slide lecture that focuses on book publishing?

Anything sound appealing or does it all sound like just so much hot air. :P

Irene

i say:
45 min, you give slide lecture about publishing from your point of view.
45 min, sf/f artist gives slide lecture from THEIR point of view
45 min, interview...both ways.

NY chapter kinda quiet lately eh? Is anyone going to the 3 on Thurs. tomorrow? I think I can make it - just might have to bail 30 min. early or so.

Irene- I think Dan has a good breakdown for the lecture. Would you do that with just one artist and you, or a few? The whole idea of the discussion around publishing is really interesting to me.

ArtByZak - the sessions are kinda pricey I feel - although out of my hands. $14 for members, and $16 for non-members. I may or may not be there for the next few weeks due to me burning out a bit on a self-induced workload. I'm all for working hard, but when the work itself suffers it's time to recharge. Instead I have someone who can run the drawing session in case I can't make it.

damn new yorkers are too lazy!!!

I just came from the last lecture at the SoI. Just a pointer: DO NOT LET THE ARTIST TALK ABOUT THEMSELVES FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES!!!!!!!!
no offence to Joel Iskowitz (i got a chanse to talk to him beforehand and he's a really easy going guy with a lot of intersting things to talk about), but give a guy who is usually holled up in the studio all day a podium and a captive audience and he will not shut up about all his accomplishments. I mean yeah, the he accomplished a hell of a lot, props to him for that, but no one in the audience paid to hear "Survey of the career of Joel Iskowitz"
the problem with the lectures is there is no structure to them and no real goal to strive for for the presenter. it devolves in a huge self promotion campaign. If you go along with Dan's idea, Irene, at least there you have a central theme. and if you have more than one presenter there is a system of checks and balances that keeps people from going off on tangents.

Scott - you know i'll be there Tomorrow. come one come all.

I probably won't be able to do Dr. Sketchy, my schools got a conference from 8-4 that I'd like to sit in on saturday. Depending on how interesting/boring the subject matter is I'll probably be there for the whole duration of the conference, but I'll regardless be at Dr. Sketchy's in spirit hoping you cats are having mad fun.

Amish: I thought the William Frake lecture at SOI was kinda decent; managed to at least touch upon a few interesting ideas (the unspoken 'language' and visual cues that storyboard artists and illustrators share, etc.). Although he too, was a bit all over the place as you say. Anyway, haven't really been to any other than that one. Just discovering this stuff...

Greg L - they all have some nuggets of goodness to them if you stay awake :P
I liked the Flake lecture a lot, because there was a theme and he stayed with it for the most part. He talked about himself, but it was in context with the overall theme. The other two lectures were smaller, and the guys talked mostly of themselves. The first lecture the guy would not shut up about Gloria Estefan mentioning his name on Operah, but when people started asking him questions about how to get into childrens books he had no real answer because he did not try to get into it, the market came to him.

oh and by the way - those that didn't come to SoI you all missed out the

Hey guys,

Just want to remind you all that the deadline for the next ironworks show is in 11 days. We're starting to get a lot of attention from some people with funding, and given the tenuous state of my finances, that means there's a lot riding on this show.

It's going to be very cool and I encourage everyone to submit. If you feel like you have a cool piece but are having trouble working on a horror movie title, let me know and I can help you brainstorm.

We need pieces! That means you Arkady! That means you Eli! That means you Rob! That means you Tiff! That means you Scott! That means you Shiraj! That means you Dan (and yes you are the *last* one to still have a piece here!)!

I really had all kinds of things that I wanted to say about everything except myself. I guess I really got off target and it divolved into a "hey, ain't I something?!" Sorry about that.I kind of pride myself in the fact that my art and illustrations aren't about itself or me so much, but more about what in the subject is facinating or the story that needs to be told.I'll definitely work on eliminating the personal vignettes and shorten the whole presentation for the next time. If anyone is looking for a life drawing class, Dr. Sketchy's (http://http://www.evilkid.com/drsketchy/sketchyhome.html) is this Saturday. Tables are still available, at 15 bucks, or you can pay ten at the door. It goes down at The Lucky Cat Lounge (http://www.theluckycat.com/) In Williamsburg Brooklyn.

It's a 3 hour session that usually features burlesque and cabaret performers who make the effort to show up in some pretty neato outfits.

This thread is a lifesaver! I just moved to New York a few months ago, there is so much here I haven’t been able to find any of the "hot spots." Since I don’t really know anyone in the city, I am hoping I can find some time to check out some of these events, and meet some new people. If any one is board tonight, there are a bunch of people hanging out at "the cabin" on 2nd Ave, between 5th and 6th. Not much drawing… but hella drinking. (20 bucks all you can drink if you’re "with the party") hit me up or just show up if your interested, I think it would be great to meet some new people!

Oh and Haven's pretty low key. Since there's not a lot of people you can pretty much make any requests for the model (I think it's Claire tonight). And they usually have a bottle of wine, but I can't guarantee that...

I'm feeling mildly disappointed in myself for not following through and attending those Haven arts sessions, but that's just typical fashion for me at this point now I suppose. Anyway, I checked out the Girodet exhibit at the Met last night. Good stuff, shows me I definetly have to draw a lot more often than I am these days, moreso then I'm expected to do for my classes at that, but man the guy did studies like crazy. I also checked out the Anglo-Mania exhibit while I was there. The punk part of it, I was ready for, but I saw this mannequin with some Raven mask on. Wierd shit I know, but I think the coolest part of it was the English garden thing that they had. If only the museum usher wasn't trolling about, I'd have definetly taken some shots for later use.

Haven Arts is cancelled for the evening if anyone was interested in going. I went a few weeks ago, and was going to go tonight...it’s a great opportunity, and I had fun as well. I don’t know why more people are not taking advantage of it! I hope to see everyone there next week.

Does anyone know if Haven Arts does their life drawing once a month, or once a week, on thursdays nights? I'm not a big fan of taking the bus in the Bronx since the service is just worthless, but I might have something bringing me into Manhattan on evenings, so Haven arts might be able to fill those hours on thursdays.

I got to check out this Chihuly installation at the Bronx Botanical Gardens. The plants were more interesting for the most part, but I'm going to go back in a week or two and take some photos.

Thanks for the response, although I think it's a bit too late for me to goto the city by now, gunna be dark by the time I make it to the park.

If anyone is bored and wants to collaborate, I'll be sitting mostly idle on paintchat.

All right everybody, some SERIOUS Ironworks related announcements.

http://www.ironworksgallery.com
http://www.myspace.com/ironworksgallery

There's a new show going up July 21st - Painters Fidele Spadafora and Zack Mason. Both have exhibited at Ironworks before - this show is going to be dynamite! Opening reception Friday, the 21st at 8Pm

AND there's another show coming up - the comics and sequentials show!
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71693&highlight=ironworks
There's going to be some really great stuff - Xeric Award winner Emily Blair is already confirmed:
http://www.scenerychewer.com/

This one has OPEN submissions. So gimme your stuff! Submissions deadline is August 12th - we're already receiving submissions, and I have a feeling we might be more selective than we have in the past - that means that if your stuff is coming at the 11th hour, it might not find a spot on our walls.

ALSO a NEW Ironworks policy - we're dropping the submission fees but we're taking a 25% commission on sold work. We sold eight pieces from the last show so I think this can cover the costs of the party. Still, we'd like artists to cover the shipping of materials (usually, that just entails bringing your stuff up and taking it back), and even though we still plan on providing alcohol for our events, we'll give gold stars out to people who bring anything.

AND the Ironworks family has two new members: James Fattu and Rebecca Summerour. They're coming in August - one paints, the other works with textiles, and when they join hands, one can turn into any sort of animal and the other can turn into any form of water.

Last thing - we've become a "spot" on the Bronx Cultural Trolley - which means on the first wednesday of every month, somewhere between 30-50 people come into the gallery! If you don't think this is significant, ask Arkady - someone off the trolley bought his piece last week!

OK that's all for now - I hope all the talented people here plan on submitting for the comics show!

Sorry everyone for not hanging out like i promissed. I was planning to go painting in the park on Saturday (Today) but i got an idea for an illustration i want to paint before i end up overthinking it in my head and i want something new for the ComicCon next week. But I promise you that in august i'll be more active.

I'll be heading up to Haven Arts once the SoI closes down for august.

And come to the Comic's Show at IronWorks. It's on my birthday so there will be cake.

NYC peeps - since the SoI had it's last day of drawing on Tuesday until September 12th, a bunch of us regulars decided to keep the tuesday night tradition alive and meet up in a bar, get drunk, and sketch the evening away. If you're interested in joining us give me a call on Tuesday and i'll let you know where we're meeting up. This will sorta act like the SSG for now becasue i am too busy to organize things for Saturdays, plus it's too damn hot.

Hey guys! I'll be in Connecticut for the next week, and planning to head into the City some as well. I'm planning on visiting SVA on Thursday, so if any of you guys are up there, it'd be cool to hang out, maybe grab a coffee or something and such. As for this event on Tuesday, where exactly is it? I'd like to join you, if it'd be okay. I'm not such a sketcher these days, I'm more on the graphic design side of things, but it'd be awesome to see some of you guys while I'm up here.

Edit: Is this (http://www.puckfairbarnyc.com/puckfair/index.html) the Puck Fair you're talking about, for tuesday?

that it is. Scroll up a few posts for the info.

Thursday i'll be up at Haven Arts (http://www.havenarts.org/) for the Free Figure Drawing and to check out my piece in their next show: "10 Curatorial Perspectives"
The opening is on Friday September 8th 6-9 PM.

Where in FL are you from?

Jibbly
September 1st, 2006, 06:10 PM
I'm from Orlando. Sarasota's the only place I'd be in a few months, though, if NYC doesn't pan out. =P

I'm always up for free figure drawing. Is that open admittance?

Actually, now that I think about it, I'll prolly go into the city on Friday, too. Perhaps I'll try and get to the opening, I haven't been to one before. I'm gonna be by myself in the city, mostly, so if anyone knows any fun hangouts around, or would like to meet up or anything, I'd be up for it. I'm hoping to get a good taste these few days. I've been up a few times, but generally get roped into touristy things with my family. I'm also going to be in the area of SVA from about 10 in the morning to the later afternoon for the tour of the campus, the dorms as well as an interview with a councilor.

Alright, I should definitely be at Puck Fair on Tuesday, just have to find a way to get back from the train on Tuesday night.. >_>

all of you of age or with good fake IDs, we're meeting up at Puck Fair tonight for the last installment of Drink and Draw before the SoI opens back up next week.

Thursday, the 7th, I'm skipping the Free Drawing at Haven Arts because there is the opening for the "Beautiful Babies" show at the SoI, but the rest of you are welcome to head up there.

Friday, the 8th, Haven is having an opening for their "10 Curatorial Perspectives" show. Our boy Nathan was one of the curators and his wall features portraits by Tory, Nathan, and Yours trully.

Chris - good to hear you're still alive :P we were all starting to wonder what happened to you. Nate was considering sending your piece down the bronx river in burning effigy :P

Cam - Good to hear you're alive as well. I'm gonna do my best to start up the sketch group again but i've been busy with stuff lately so i find it harder to make myself available on the weekends. If anyone wants to take control of the group a few weekends and help me out, i'd love to keep it going.
