Why do I always see people posting unfinished work, like pencil and marker sketches in the finaly finished section?

HEY ADMIN: im not sure how much work this would take or if you guys would deam this a worthy idea, but maybe have a new section for concepts and drawings, and divote the finished section to pieces that are well rounded pieces. Cuz it seems like 90% of the ppl on here post anything they have in the finished section just so they can get noticed.

I was thinking the same thing, about people posting anything in an attempt to get noticed, but I dont think making new sections is the right answer.

i think we just need a big neon colored flashing sign around the sketches & ideas section.

I think the issue is that people have different ideas of what "finished" means. You are all thinking of work that's been planned out and thuroughly worked on as all aspects of the image are being addressed. The image is complete and calls for no further attention (untill the crit). Others may consider something "finished" simply when they've decided to stop working on it.

This is basically what the Sketches section is described as. It's for stuff that is rough, yet considered finished in the sense that you do not plan to work on it any further. Finally Finished is not the place for this stuff, even though you could say that a piece is finished in terms of your intent to not work on it anymore.

I don't want to turn into a critic and move whatever i feel unfinished in the sketches section saying - "you better work more on that before post it in the finished area"
Sure thare are things i consider less the sketches but in the eye of the artist are finished.

There all kind of works there - First thing that comes to mind is that futuristic-chicken-transporter that inspired Feng to do his own version. :D

Apart form that, i think that the only decent solution is to continue and give them feedback and recomend them to post in different areas - it's YOU who have to do this since from me as a mod might come as a sort of "pre-abuse" - i don't even want to think what it might go up to if i just move their posts.
I used to PM each one and ask them if it's ok to move it to different section but most don;t read PM's or read them after 2 weeks.

I agree with Oblio, its best to just warn ppl not to post sketches, but to much enforcement, and we might see a kind of exodus from conceptart, kinda like what happened to conceptdesignforum.com. that place has very few members now, but it used to be buslin till there was this big war over the definition of 'concept art'.
